Israel tells people in northern Gaza to evacuate as Trump issues call for war to end

The Israeli army ordered Palestinians on Sunday to evacuate the northern areas of Gaza before the fighting against Hamas, while US President Donald Trump called for the end of the war in the midst of renewed efforts to negotiate a ceasefire.

“Agree in Gaza, recover the hostages,” Trump published on his social platform Truth on Sunday.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was to hold talks later in the day on the progress of the Israel offensive. A senior security official said the soldiers will tell him that the campaign is about to achieve his goals and warns that the expansion of fighting in new Gaza areas could endanger the remaining Israeli hostages.

But in a press release published on X and SMS sent to many residents, the soldiers urged people in the northern parts of the enclave to head south towards the Al-Mawasi region in Khan Younis, which Israel has appointed as a humanitarian zone. Palestinian and UN officials say that nowhere is Gaza.

“THE [Israeli] The defense forces operate with extreme force in these regions, and these military operations will intensify, intensify and extend west to the city center to destroy the capacities of terrorist organizations, “said the army.

The evacuation order covered the Jabalia region and most districts in the city of Gaza. Doctors and residents said the Israeli army bombings intensified in the early hours of Jabalia, destroying several houses and killing at least six people.

Medical charity doctors Without Borders condemned the shooting of hundreds of Palestinians close to the distribution of aid led by the American entrepreneur approved by Israel, Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.

In Khan Younis, in the South, five people were killed in an air strike on an tent camp near Mawasi, the doctors said. At least 12 other people were killed in distinct Israeli military strikes and gunshots across the enclave, bringing the number of deaths from Sunday to at least 23, doctors told.

At the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, relatives arrived to pay tribute to the bodies wrapped in whites before being buried.

“A month ago, they [Israel] told us to go to Al-Mawasi [in Khan Younis] And we stayed there for a month, it is a safe area, “said Zeyad Abu Marouf. He said three of his children had been killed and that a fourth was injured in the Israeli air strike.

“We ask God and the Arabs to move and put an end to this occupation and the injustice that happens against us,” Abu Marouf told Reuters.

Renewed ceasefire

Military climbing comes as Arab mediators, Egypt and Qatar, supported by the United States, are starting a new cease-fire effort to stop the conflict of 20 months and ensure the release of Israeli and foreign hostages still held by Hamas.

The interest in resolving the Gaza conflict has strengthened after the American and Israeli bombings of Iranian nuclear installations.

There have also been concerns about how the aid is distributed to the Gazans in the ruined enclave. Hundreds of Palestinians were killed in the vicinity of the areas in which food was distributed, hospitals and local officials said.

An official of Hamas told Reuters that the group had informed the mediators that he was ready to take over the cease-fire talks, but reaffirmed exceptional requests from the group that any agreement must end the war and secure an Israeli withdrawal from coastal territory.

Hamas said he was willing to release the remaining hostages in Gaza, 20 of which are still alive, only in an agreement that will end the war. Israel says he can only end war if Hamas is disarmed and dismantled. Hamas refuses to put his arms.

The war began after Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, killing 1,200 people and taking 251 hostages, according to Israeli accounts.

The subsequent military assault of Israel killed more than 56,000 Palestinians, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health, moved almost the total population of 2.3 million and plunged the enclave into a humanitarian crisis.
