“ No danger of radiation ” after a strike on the reactor

The Israeli army said that its fighter planes had targeted the installation of Arak and its basic reactor seal to prevent it from being used to produce plutonium.

“The strike has targeted the component intended for the production of plutonium, in order to prevent the reactor from being restored and used for the development of nuclear weapons,” said the army. Israel said separately to have struck another site around Natanz that he described as being linked to the Iranian nuclear program.

Iranian state television said that there was “no danger of influence” of the attack on the Arak site. A journalist on Iranian state television, live in the neighboring city of Khondab, said that the installation had been evacuated and that there was no damage to the civil zones around the reactor.

Israel had warned earlier Thursday morning that he would attack the installation and urged the public to flee the region.

Iran rejects calls to surrender or end its nuclear program

Iran has long maintained that its program is for peaceful purposes. However, it also enriches up to 60% uranium, at a short technical step in the level of weapons of 90%. Iran is the only state of non -nuclear weapons to enrich at this level.

Israel is the only state of nuclear weapons in the Middle East but does not recognize having such weapons.

The strikes occurred one day after the supreme head of Iran rejected calls to the United States and warned that any military involvement by the Americans would cause them “irreparable damage”. Israel had raised some restrictions on daily life on Wednesday, suggesting that the threat of Iran’s missiles on its territory succeeded.

Iran’s official Iran news agency said the meeting would include foreign ministers in the United Kingdom, France and Germany and the first diplomat of the European Union.

Trump said he wanted something “much bigger” than a ceasefire and has not excluded the United States to join the Israel campaign. Iran has warned of disastrous consequences if the United States deepens its involvement, without developing.

Arak had been redesigned to respond to nuclear concerns

The Arak heavy water reactor is 250 kilometers (155 miles) southwest of Tehran.

Heavy water helps to cool nuclear reactors, but it produces plutonium as a by-product that can potentially be used in nuclear weapons. This would provide Iran with another path to the bomb beyond enriched uranium, if he chose to continue the weapon.

Iran had agreed under its 2015 nuclear agreement with the global powers to rethink the installation on proliferation problems.

The discord point became a discord point after President Donald Trump withdrew from the nuclear agreement in 2018. Ali Akbar Salehi, a senior nuclear official in Iran, said in 2019 that Tehran bought additional documents to replace part of the reactor in which he had paid concrete to make him unusable in the agreement.

The International Atomic Energy Agency, the United Nations nuclear surveillance dog, has urged Israel not to strike Iranian nuclear sites. IAEA inspectors would have visited Arak last time on May 14.
