Jax Taylor Says This One Action Led To His ‘VPR’ Firing
Throughout his run on the show, Taylor had his fair share of issues. Not only did the 45-year-old fight incessantly with his co-stars, like Stassi Schroeder and DJ James Kennedy, but Taylor also had problems with the producers.
During an episode of his podcast, “In The Mind of a Man,” Jax Taylor spoke with the executive producer of “Vanderpump Rules” and discussed his time on the hit Bravo show. They also opened up about Taylor’s final days appearing on the series and the situation that caused his firing.

Although Taylor’s first few years on the show provided viewers with top-notch entertainment, many grew tired of his antics toward the end of his run—including the show’s producers.
“I think my final demise — which put the nail in the coffin for me — is towards the end. Obviously, everybody who’s watched the show has always noticed that towards the end, I would have a lot of diva moments where I’m like, ‘I’m done; I’m moving to Florida,” he recalled during his podcast, per Us Weekly. “I was just heated. There was a lot of arguing and fighting going on as per usual.”
Taylor then mentioned a scene he was supposed to shoot with the rest of the cast. However, he opposed it because it was in Malibu, California, which was “two hours” from his location in Hollywood.

“I was pulling a diva moment by saying, ‘I’m not going to the beach. We could literally get the same exact conversation that we’re trying to get at the park across the street.’ They wanted us to go to the beach and help clean — which is fine — but I just was not f—ing doing it,” he said. “I was not going to drive three hours, and that’s when I needed a piece of humble pie.”

The show’s executive producer, Alex Baskin, added more detail to Taylor’s story. According to him, not only did Taylor not show up, but he also encouraged other cast members not to film.
“So because that’s what got to us, is you were being a pain in the -ss about it and you were saying, ‘I’m not going to go, this is so stupid.’ Then you were texting other people,” Baskin explained. “So then, of course, we saw those texts and were like, ‘Can you believe Jax is sabotaging the production?’”

In a previous interview with Baskin on Bravo’s “Hot Mic” podcast, Taylor opened up about his past addiction to cocaine, which he said began at age “23.”
“I’m an addict,” he said. “I have substance issues—primarily with cocaine.”
The father of one explained that in addition to cutting out cocaine, he stopped drinking alcohol. “I’m proud to say I’m 83 days sober right now, which is the longest I’ve ever gone in my life without either,” he revealed.

Taylor admitted that nobody from the “Vanderpump Rules” production company knew about his using illicit drugs while filming the reality show. However, he admitted to sneaking off in between takes to get “ripped” at the local bar or behind the restaurant they filmed in.
“I would go off on my own. We would film a scene, and you have 30 minutes (of) downtime, so most people go rest. I would go to a bar, get lit, or go next door from SUR, and that’s where we all went because we weren’t allowed to drink during scenes,” he explained.
While appearing in an episode of Andy Cohen’s “Watch What Happens Live,” Taylor’s best friend, Tom Sandovsaid that he was aware of his pal’s drug use when they worked together.
“Yes, I was somewhat aware of his problems with addiction,” he admitted. “I’ve been around him over the years, obviously.”
However, the “Traitors” alum revealed he’s “so proud” of Taylor for sharing his story and embracing sobriety. “I think it’s so awesome. He really seems like he’s been really working on himself, for real,” he finished.
