When Blumhouse and Universal Unleashed “M3GA” in the world in 2022No one could have predicted the sensation that he becomes. Well, no one directlyor. The Queer audience looked at the “titanium” that created the murder doll and said, “Mom.” His stars’ box office revenue performance was an inevitable sequel, and the house that Blum built, doubled unless not threefold Down, with Catering M3gan’s largest fanbase leading to the release of the sequel. The M3GAN Dancer Army appeared on the West Hollywood Pride parade in early June, the trailer used Britney Spears’ “Oops! … I made it again as” a needle drop and they teased M3gan in the masks while serving the Varkain Couture and boasting Fab “M3GA 2.0”
But trying to capture the lightning in the first movie bottle, going Complete “T2: Judgment Day” By updating the M3gan hero, who needed to save the day to face independent military commitment logistics and intruding known as Amelia (Ivanna Sakhno) and carefully serves the queer audience, “M3GA 2.0” Chucks Horror application out of the window and becomes a straight line of the 1990s. As a “M3GA” episode … I’m not sure it works. Inspired by the early 90’s crazy action thrills, deeply inspired in a movie that played the ad Nausum network in the US network in the middle of the afternoon on weekdays? It’s rocking, but its dedication will surely rub people in the wrong direction. However, I couldn’t be me!
Where “M3GA” fell into the world of an unintentional camp, “M3GAN 2.0” lives in the world of a bad straight camp. The logic of the movie? Questionable at its best. Presentations? Vehicles of dialogue that exist solely to explain the plot harder. Moments intended to inspire clicks and “YAAAS Queens” from the audience? So ham can be honey-baked. Those who wish for a true horror period will surely be disappointed, but there is a lot of fun in M3gan’s messy mess.
Set two years after artificially intelligent club layer M3GA (Amie Donald, Jenna Davis’ voice) went to the thugs and tried to destroy anyone who threatened his relationship with young Cady (Violet McGraw), including Cady’s aunt Gemma (Alloon Williams), Great Inventor an army that is strong. Armelia weapon that is used as the ultimate spy on the killer’s penetration. Unfortunately, Amelian AI is progressing faster than anyone imagined, and Gemma, Cady, M3gan and Gemma’s business partners Tess (Jen van Epps) and Cole (Brian Jordan Alvarez) are responsible for stopping Amel before she takes the world.
Where the “M3gan” villain was a nominal character, “M3GAN 2.0” is the clustercuss of technology and abuse grapes. Should we be afraid of Amelia? Should we be afraid of an incompetent government? Should we be afraid of Gemma’s new, pretending, anti-Ai-Punith boyfriend Christian? Should we be afraid of the Skekevy Tech miller, who has the least subtle name of all time, Alton Appleton (Jemaine Clement)? Should we be afraid of M3gan ourselves? Should we be afraid of the extra shapes that I don’t even mention because it is a massive spoiler? When trying to say everything about technology, war, capitalism and trauma tied with robots, the film sounds like it buzzes in the middle of the sentence; But by doing anything other than Selections ™The sequel accidentally mimics our own relationship with AI – it moves too fast and it seems impossible to feel the weight of every new knowledge completely. It throws so many ideas on the screen that even though the story is not counted (like how to hide the M3GA can design an underground bunker with home decoration and framed portraits, but somehow there is no power to build a new body for yourself?), You have almost too dazzling in chaos.
In Bruce Labruce Notes at the campHe admitted that the subversive, naturally counter -culture of artistic expression, known as “Camp”, was introduced, fetished and mainstream – the spirit of excessiveness and the theatrical exaggeration of aesthetics, humor and sensitivity is still obvious, but the perception of esoterism has been baptized. These films known as “Bad Straight Camp” are proud of the deliberately designed camp artistic, which can still calm the public audience. Movies like “Twilight”, Baz Luhrmann’s film and all action films, Arnold Schwarzenegger or Steven Seagal, are all in the same cinematic dead end as “M3GAN 2.0”. It is deliberately extraordinary, visually maximalist and emotionally low – but it is also such a thing. Whether it is a great satire or a hot mess, it depends entirely on your tolerance on the action-packed nonsense, genre whip and AI queen with retaliation on their motherboards.
The original “m3gan” did not feel that it was designed for viroud – it just Was virus. But “M3GAN 2.0?” He knows he is considered. Cady’s School Locker, which includes Steven Seagal, M3gan, dancing like a robot for the adorable crowd, the fact that he slides into the wing of a high cliff, singing Kate Bush’s “Woman’s work” (Honestly, kill), and his spouting line, like “hold your vagina” as fun as those moments, they feel authorized. Where the first movie camp felt spontaneous, as it stumbled and descended into the memes, the chaos of this sequel seems to be calculated. Not necessarily in a bad way, but you can feel the studio’s fingers to the pulse. And weird yes, obvious by trying I was only interested in the movie, like when my mother sends me photos of her local pride parade with the caption: “I’m with people!”
Yet credit where it matures: writer-director Gerard Johnstone has not given up the message something AI’s dangers, and the political story of the film has evolved to reflect the way in which real life is speed toward the ai -girlfriend’s robot rebellion. Ivanna Sakhno plays Amelia with icy perfection, and I just wish we had more screen time with her character. But instead of giving his chef, the film catches his own Bonkers logic from excessive explanation. Despite all my pedantic complaints, I still found a lot of joy that returned to this world and gave myself this story of the Banana pants about killer robes, corrupt governments, AI-printed scenarios, and tropics of 90s action films. There may not be any fears between M3GAN and Amelia (and one anticipated battle with Allison and Allo’s Williams), but there are some really fun hand sequences between M3gan and Amelia) and you never get me to complain about it. It is ridiculous like hell that turns seriously to the real ones, and like other examples of a bad straight camp, I still creep in anything like brainrotted Little Piggy.
The original “M3GA” was a pull exhibition. “M3GAN 2.0” is a bet show with a direct bachelorette capturing a VIP table. But because he drips well, he is a respectful ally, and he has a non-ironic appreciation “above the law” he can stay.
