The jurors reached a verdict Retal of Karen Read In the murder of his Boston police officer, boyfriend John O’Keefe, who, the prosecutors, alleged that she killed in a drunk flight offense during a blizzard on January 29, 2022.
The trial experienced more than 30 days of testimony and four days of deliberation.
The jurors said they had read not guilty of second degree murder, the main accusation, but guilty of a lower offense of a vehicle under the influence with a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more.
The special prosecutor Hank Brennan asked for 1 year of probation and this reading entered a program of 24D external consultations – a routine sanction for a first infraction of driving driving.
READ was also found not guilty of driving in a state of manslaughter and fleeing the place of a fatal accident. His first trial on the same charges ended without verdict last year when the jurors took place.

Cracks of his supporters, who were waiting for an update in front of the courthouse, could be heard in the courtroom.
This time, the Commonwealth appointed a special prosecutor, the high-level defense lawyer Hank Brennan, and read the Defense Lawyer of New York, Robert Alessi, to a team that included Alan Jackson of Los Angeles and David Yannetti from Boston.

Read O’Keefe around 6 am lying in the snow and insensitive. She was with two other women – Jennifer McCabe And Kerry Roberts, who both testified against her during the trial.

The couple and other friends and acquaintances, including McCabe, had drunk in downtown Canton before being invited to an after-party at the home of Brian Albert, who testified during the first trial but not the second.

O’Keefe was found on Albert’s lawn a few hours later.
Witnesses said they saw Read’s car outside, but neither she nor O’Keefe entered the rally. She did not testify for her own defense – but she told journalists outside the court that she had seen O’Keefe entering inside before leaving.

Throughout the trial, Brennan played clips of Read television interviewsGiving the jurors a chance to hear not only her version of the events, but also other comments she gave to journalists, including how she overturned her own drinks at the bar before the death of O’Keefe and a meeting with O’Keefe’s mother after.

The prosecutors allege read o’keefe and went to his house without him. Read’s defense argued that she has never struck him, blaming her injuries on a dog attack and an altercation with other men at the party.
