Karen Read jury deliberates as other famous cases took hours to days

A former Massachusetts financial analyst accused of having killed his boyfriend’s boyfriend in a drunk flight offense awaits his fate after a second trial in a small courthouse in Dedham.

Karen Read45 years old, faces a murder and other charges in the death of John O’Keefe, 46, who had taken his niece and his orphaned nephew and seemed to want to end the relationship.

The jurors spent just under two hours deliberate on Friday and returned on Monday for their first full day.

“People wonder why we don’t have a verdict yet,” said Grace Edwards, a Massachusetts lawyer who closely follows the case. “I think the jury works hard to understand the requirements of each count and work them.”

Read’s first trial ended with a jury suspended last year after the jurors went more than 25 hours a day without achieving an agreement.

Deliberations in other high -level murder accusations vary from a few hours to several days.

The double murder trial of the 1990s of OJ Simpson in the death of her ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman took nine months to play.

The two were brutally stabbed to death in front of the luxury condo of Brown Simpson in Los Angeles.

The former legal “dream team” of the NFL Star prevailed – and the jurors found it not guilty in less than four hours.

Simpson was found civilly responsible and went to prison for an unrelated flight more than a decade later. He died last year after a battle against cancer.

A mother of Florida accused of having killed her 2 year old daughter Caylee, Casey Anthony was tried for murder, mansions guilty and mistreated in 2011 children in 2011.

Caylee had disappeared for a month before his grandparents reported his disappearance.

The jurors spent about 11 hours deliberating over two days before concluding an agreement on the accusations. They found Anthony not guilty of having killed or abused his daughter, but they found him guilty of lying to the police.

To date, no one has been found guilty of the death of the child.

Scott Peterson:

In 2004, the jurors condemned Scott Peterson To kill his pregnant wife Laci and throw her in the Bay of San Francisco the day before Christmas two years earlier.

Their deliberations lasted seven days after a trial which took more than five months.

The jurors initially inflicted on him the death sentence for the first degree murder for the death of Laci and the second degree murder for their unborn son, Conner.

Peterson continues to maintain his innocence and currently calls on his case for the third time. He was sentenced to death canceled in 2020 and purges life without parole.

Alex Murdaugh:

Formerly lawyer and family of Southern Carolina, Murdaugh was sentenced in 2023 for shooting his younger wife and son, Maggie and Paul.

After a six -week test – twice as long as initial estimates – the jurors deliberated for less than three hours and I found him guilty of two murders and arms costs.

Murdaugh is currently serving consecutive life sentences. He asked for a new trial after the court of the court on his case was accused of several crimes, which allegedly lied to a judge about the Murdaugh case.

Although these trials have a wide range of time and results, New York’s defense lawyer, Louis Gelormino, told Fox News Digital that the longer jurors have deliberate in Dedham, the best things are looking for reading.

“My first trial on homicides was the longest deliberation in NYC, modern history, 9 days,” he told Fox News Digital. “Suspended jury. Three months later, they tried it again and we obtained an acquittal.”
