The foreman of the jury in the new trial Karen Read called on the FBI to take his own look in the death of Boston police department Officer John O’Keefe.

“There are so many holes that must be filled,” said juror No. 1. “Now that the FBI knows that Karen Read is not a suspect, something has happened and that several jurors feel this.”

The juror, who asked to remain anonymous, said that the FBI should “obtain justice for John O’Keefe”.
“No local person should be involved in the investigation,” said the juror. “It was a lazy police job … and we should start a type of investigation into what happened in this house.”
The special prosecutor Hank Brennan, after the verdict, asked that reading be condemned to one year of probation and registration in the 24D ambulatory program, which is routine for a first infraction in terms of drunkenness.

The verdict of non-culpability on the first accusation of second degree murder came after a month of testimonies and four days of deliberation of the jury. The prosecutors read that they killed O’Keefe, her boyfriend, on January 29, 2022, when she was driving her drunk car during a blizzard.
O’Keefe’s body was found lying in the snow in the early morning of January 29. Kerry Roberts and Jennifer McCabe testified against Read, saying that she had panicked when she called them on January 29 to tell them that O’Keefe had disappeared.

In court, McCabe alleged that Read said several times: “I hit him” the morning when O’Keefe disappeared. Timothy Nuttall, an ambulancer, said that he had heard reading saying “I hit him” three times.
According to witnesses, Read and O’Keefe drank on the night of January 28 with friends, including McCabe. The couple were invited to an after-party at Brian Albert, but they did not attend.

Read’s defense team maintained during the trial that Read never struck O’Keefe, accused rather his injuries on an altercation with other men in the post-part.

According to witnesses who testified in court, while Read’s car was in front of Albert’s house, she and O’Keefe were not seen in the after-part. Read told journalists that she had seen O’Keefe entering the house before she moved away.
