Details On Indiana Mom’s School Bus Brawl With Teen That Sparked Felony Charges

New York Post reports that the footage shows Latea Hentz and her teen daughter getting on the school bus. They both later began beating her son’s 14-year-old bully badly, leaving him with a severely broken nose.

Per PEOPLE, charging documents from the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office state the incident occurred on March 6. The fight allegedly started between Latea Hentz’s 13-year-old son, 17-year-old daughter, and the 14-year-old student. Hentz then jumped in, purportedly striking the teen “multiple times.”

According to Wx-TVthe now-deleted video from social media captured a female voice saying, “I’m tired of you b***h a** kids at this school.” Then another voice added, “You wanna put your hands on my brother? If I have to get back on this bus, I’m gonna kill you.”

Officers noted the teen had a swollen left eye and a facial cut after the altercation. Doctors at Riley Children’s Hospital later confirmed he suffered a fractured nose, an eye injury, and bruising.

Latea Hentz & The Teen Student Share Their Sides Of The Incident

According to PEOPLE, Latea Hentz told police that her son hasn’t been acting like himself for a while due to ongoing bullying. She said she tried to address the issue on the bus before the fight broke out but allegedly didn’t admit to getting involved with her daughter.

Hentz’s son also reportedly told police that the boy had been picking on him for weeks. He also claimed the school knew but never stepped in to stop it.

However, PEOPLE notes that the student told police he occasionally joked with Hentz’s son but never got into a physical fight with him. While speaking with authorities, the teen said Hentz and her daughter jumped him. He also claimed Latea’s son targeted him with offensive jokes. His mother added that he was the real victim of the bullying, dealing with remarks about Immigration and Customs Enforcement because of his Mexican heritage.

What’s Next For Latea Hentz?

The New York Post states that Latea Hentz faces four charges for her part in the altercation. Her charges include: criminal confinement, battery causing moderate injury, intimidation, and criminal trespass.

The Warren Township School District also spoke to WXIN-TV about the incident. In a statement, the district urged witnesses to come forward and confirmed that video evidence has been handed over to investigators.
