French president Emmanuel Macron warned that Greenland is “not to be sold” or “to take” in a key visit Sunday on the strategic territory of the arctic coveted by the American president Donald Trumpsaying that it transmits a message of French and European solidarity.
Macron expressed strong criticism of Trump’s intention to take control of the territory.
“In a few words: everyone in France, the European Union thinks that Greenland should not be sold, so as not to be taken,” he said at a press conference, applauded by the local crowd.
“The situation in Greenland is clearly a call for alarm clock for all Europeans. Let me tell you very directly that you are not alone,” added Macron.

The Wall Street Journal last month reported that several senior officials under the American director of national intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, had ordered the heads of the intelligence agency to learn more about the independence movement of Greenland and the feeling of the extraction of American resources.
Nielsen in April said that American statements on the island were disrespectful and that Greenland “will never be an element of property that can be bought by anyone.”
