Mamdani’s NYC mayoral primary victory exposes Democratic Party divisions

But the Democratic representative Jared Moskowitz of Florida does not think that what happened in the highly blue city of New York will resonate in crucial swing districts, like his seat.

“I think the idea you can extrapolate what happened there and move it to 49 other states, in the suburbs, politics is very different,” Moskowitz told journalists on Capitol Hill this week.

And Democratic representative Tom Suozzi from New York, which represents a suburban swing district which also includes a New York ribbon, went to social networks to say that he “had serious concerns concerning Mamdani MP” before the primary.

“These concerns remain,” said Suozzi.
