Manchester United full-back Dalot backs Blues’ swoop for Quenda

Chelsea’s signing of geovany who has a received a glowing endorsement from fellow portuguese diogo dalot.

Sporting CP announced late last night that Quenda and Dario Essugo had been bought by the West London club for a combined £62.4million.

Quenda is the more expensive at £44m and will remain in Lisbon until the end of next season before making the switch to Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United full-back Dalot, named alongside the 17-year-old winger in the Portugal squad for the Nations League doubleheader against Denmark, said: “Above all, it is another demonstration of the quality of the Portuguese player, of the quality in Portugal. He is a very promising player, that’s why he’s here. He knows that being here is not for everyone. Being able to represent a big club is a great responsibility, but he likes to play, he is happy, he expresses himself in the best way he knows and is here to help.

“But it was his quality that made him get here. He has to work hard, he knows that, the advice is always the same… the most difficult thing is not to get there, but to maintain it and I believe he has all the skills for that.”

Essugo to join Quenda at Chelsea

Essugo, a 20-year-old defensive midfielder, will join Chelsea in the summer after his loan spell at La Liga club Las Palmas expires.

He cost Enzo Maresca’s side £18.4m and could be thrust straight into their squad for the FIFA Club World Cup.

The signing of the pair continues Chelsea’s policy of trying to acquire the most promising players in world football and they will join 17-year-olds Esteban Willian and Kendry Paez at the club.
