“Star Wars: Section VIII – Last Jedi” sees Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) as living on an island Ahch-To on the planet. There he spend the days of milking the Thala-Sirens and hides from the rest of the galaxy far away, far away. This version of Luke is not a brave, young hero who dreams of adventure “Star Wars: Episode IV – New Hope” – he is a difficult old man who has rejected the resistance and wants to leave alone. It is clear that this great Jedi is tortured and restless, but if Hami had his way, the character would have had an even darker back.
In an interview “Bullseye Jesse Thorn”, “ Hamill explained that he wanted Luke to find a romance and the founding family – just that it was removed from him in a way that looks right for a horror movie. As he said:
“I thought what could make someone give up what is basically a religious entity, to give up Jedi. Well, the woman’s love. So she falls in love with a woman. She gives up a Jedi. They have a child together. At some point a child who is a toddler, picks up a cautious light self.”
Despite the fact that Hamill originally opposed such a cruel backstory to Luke, the character went out of the grid. In short, he believes that it went against everything Jedi stood, which led to disagreements with writer director Ria Johnson.
Mark Hamill does not seem like the biggest fan of the “last Jedi”. In fact, some people believe that he does not like the movie because of some comments he made after the publication he sought in the direction of his character. When talking about Cartoon During the film’s release in 2017, Hamill explained that Luke Skywalker would never have given up the resistance, claiming that it is contrary to Jedi:
“I told Rian,” Jedis doesn’t give up. “I mean, though [Luke] There would be a problem, he lasted for a year and re -group, but if he made a mistake, he would try correctly, so there was a fundamental difference. But it’s no longer my story, it’s the story of someone else, and Rian needed me to be a certain way to make the end effective. It’s the core of my problem. Luke never says that. I’m sorry. “
For this in mind, the height of the Hamilli makes more sensible. If there is one thing that can force people to give up their beliefs and seek loneliness, it is sad – especially when it is related to their closest loved ones. Still, Rian Johnson is proud of the “last Jedi” … even though Hamill has some problems dealing with the story.
