Mexico’s top court orders release of 43 missing Ayotzinapa students case file

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court of Mexico ordered the Prosecutor General’s office to publish a public version of its investigation file on the disappearance of 43 students in 2014 Rural Ayotzinapa Teachers College, one of the worst atrocities of human rights in the country.

The case was spoiled by missteps and interference, with the former Mexico prosecutor arrested in 2022 in relation to the case.

The court’s decision, invited to a citizen’s request, requires that the file be made available on the prosecutor’s website with confidential data that has been expounded.

For more than a decade, the government promised an action by finding the managers, the surveys publishing variable accounts of what happened to students of the southern state of Guerrero.

In 2022, the investigators recognized that local, state and federal officials played a role in covering their disappearance. International probes judged that they were probably kidnapped and killed by members of the crime organized in wicks with the police.

The prosecutor’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comments on the decision. The Supreme Court did not specify a time limit for compliance.

The families of the victims have long pressure for justice, although no one was sentenced in the case.
