Microsoft has announced a strategic and multi-year agreement with AMD for silicon co-engineer on a portfolio of devices, including new generation Xbox consoles.
The company said that it will offer a deeper visual quality, an immersive gameplay and experiences fueled by AI – based on a platform designed for players, not linked to a single store or a device, and entirely compatible with your existing Xbox game library, said Sarah Bond, president of Xbox.
It is not a surprise, since AMD also teamed up with Xbox on the two previous generations of game consoles now, and Microsoft should start to announce its next generation of equipment. This agreement has probably been in place for some time since it takes several years to finalize a console.
In this case, this probably means that Microsoft is working with AMD on a personalized design for its main upcoming game console, and it could also use AMD for equipment linked to Windows as well as the Asus Rog Xbox Ally and Asus Rog Xbox Ally X Handles That the company announced last week at the Summer Game Fest.
Microsoft and Sony clearly work on their next generation consoles, and they probably don’t want to hang out too far in the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 which made its debut on June 5. However, the main Xbox competition has always been Sony, and we will see if the two companies are launching their systems the same year, as in 2020.
Microsoft said it would work with AMD to feed new generation game experiences on devices, including consoles, PC, laptop and cloud.
The collaboration aims to remove the player’s experience by delivering advanced graphics with improved visual quality, more immersive gameplay using the power of AI and compatibility with the existing Xbox Games Library. Together, Xbox and AMD hopes to allow to play on devices in a completely new way, offering an Xbox experience designed for players – without being confined in a single store or linked to a single device.
At the same time, Xbox continues to operate more closely with the Windows team to ensure that Windows is the number one platform for games.
Sony also uses AMD for the two previous generations of its consoles. AMD had an advantage on the Nvidia and Intel rivals because it has a flea design that combines processor and graphics functions in the same package. And with developers focused on AMD architecture, it is difficult for competitors to withdraw the conceptions of the console far from DMLA.
Nintendo, however, focused on the chips of Nvidia and he used Nvidia for the Switch and the Switch 2. I guess it is time to prepare again for a console war. It will be the fifth generation of Xbox consoles that I will have covered.
