Microsoft’s Family Safety Feature Is Blocking Chrome: Here’s the Workaround

Microsoft’s family safety function is designed to block certain types of children’s websites. Apparently, this also blocked the Google Chrome browser – but there is a bypass solution.

Chrome, a web browser launched by Google in 2008 – does not work when users have the activated family safety functionality. The first bug report seems to date on June 3, When a user posted on the Google online assistance card.

The user noted that Chrome closed constantly when the person tried to use it. Restarting their computer and reinstalling Chrome did not work.

“He keeps saying the same thing,” no update available “, wrote the user.

The problem should only occur on Windows computers that have been configured to use the security functionality of the Microsoft family, which filters the content and allows parents to manage screen time and follow the activity online. (There is also a Family security application.)

A Microsoft representative did not immediately respond to a request for comments.

What if your chrome is blocking because of this bug

There seem to be two ways to get around this problem. The simplest way is probably to Follow these steps::

  1. Go to https://familysafety.microsoft.com Or open the mobile family security application.
  2. Select your child’s name.
  3. Access the Windows tab, then on applications and games, and unlock Chrome. A variant on this step would be to deactivate “Filter inappropriate websites” under the Edge tab – but this goes against the goal of having the family safety function, and allows your child to surf any website, including adult content sites.

The rod also underlined Another way to get around the problem. Some users have indicated that the slightly modification of the .exe (rejoining it “chrome1”, for example) allowed Chrome to work with the activated family safety functionality.
