Midjourney, one of the most popular AI image generation startups, announced the launch From its highly anticipated video generation model, V1.
V1 is an image -video model, in which users can download an image – or take an image generated by one of the other Midjourney – and V1 models will produce a set of four five -second videos based on it. Like the Midjourney, V1 images models is only available via Discord, and it is only available on the web at launch.
The launch of V1 makes Midjourney in competition with models of generation of AI videos from other companies, such as Sora d’Opnai, Gen 4 from Runway, Adobe d’Adobe, and VEO 3 of Google. While many companies focus on the development of AI controllable video models to be used in commercial settings, Midjourney has always been set up for its distinctive AI image models that face creative types.
The company says that it has more important objectives for its AI video models than generating a Roll B for Hollywood films or advertisements for the advertising industry. In a blush Post, the CEO of Midjourney, David Holz, said that his video model AI is the next stage of the company towards its ultimate destination, creating models of AI “capable of simulations in time open in real time”.
After the AI video models, Midjourney says that he plans to develop AI models to produce 3D rendering, as well as real -time AI models.
The launch of the Midjourney V1 model comes a week after the startup Was pursued by two of the most notorious cinema in Hollywood: Disney and Universal. The costume alleys that the images created by the AI image models of Midjourney represent the characters protected by the copyright of the studio, like Homer Simpson and Dark Vader.
Hollywood Studios had a hard time facing the growing popularity of image models and video generation on AI, like those that Midjourney develops. There is an increasing fear that these AI tools can replace or devalue the work of creatives in their respective fields, and several media companies have allegedly alleged that these products are formed on their works protected by copyright.
While Midjourney has tried to present itself as different from other IA image and video startups – more focused on creativity than immediate commercial applications – the startup cannot escape these accusations.
To start, Midjourney says that he will charge 8 times more for a generation of videos than a typical generation of images, which means that subscribers will be short of their monthly generations allocated much faster when creating videos than images.
At the launch, the cheapest way to try V1 is to subscribe to the basic plan of $ 10 per month of Midjourney. Subscribers to the professional plan of $ 60 per month of Midjourney and at the MEGA plan of $ 120 per month will have unlimited video generations in the slower “Relax” mode of the company. During the next month, Midjourney says that he will reassess his prices for video models.
V1 comes with a few personalized settings that allow users to control outings of the video model.
Users can select an automatic animation parameter to move an image at random, or they can select a manual parameter that allows users to describe, in the text, a specific animation they want to add to their video. Users can also switch the amount of movement of the camera and the subject by selecting “low motion” or “high motion” in the settings.
While the videos generated with V1 last only five seconds, users can choose to extend them from four seconds to four times, which means that V1 videos could reach 21 seconds.
Like the IA image models of Midjourney, the first demos of V1 videos seem somewhat of another world, rather than hyperrealists. The initial response to V1 has been positive, although it is not yet difficult to what extent it corresponds to other main AI video models, which have been on the market for months or even years.
