My Virtual Avatar No Longer Looks Terrible in the Apple Vision Pro

Remember Apple’s vision Pro? It is the Mixed reality headset of $ 3,499 The company launched in early 2024 that has not aroused a lot of public interest. Apple has steam with the platform updates in the past year, and soon there will be a new version upgrade: Visionos 26. (Apple Apple Announced on wwdc He changed the way he appointed his operating systems to correspond to the following year.)

I was lucky to try some of the new capacities, but two were held more than the others. The first is the upgrading of the characters. It is the space avatar that the helmet creates according to your resemblance using on -board cameras (you must point the helmet to your head and run a configuration process to create a personality). Last year, the first thing I heard when I joined zoom meetings carrying the pro vision was laughter. My character was rigid, my hair looked matte – he just looked bad.

Apple has reorganized the appearance to make these 3D digital representations much better than before, with a much more natural and realistic design. You can even see the whole view of the side profile of the head. The textures of the hair are better, just like the complexion of the skin. I installed my character without wearing glasses, but I was able to add virtual glasses to almost the same style as my real frames, and they did not hit or the wobbly air. (I recorded a little greeting via a third-party application, which you can see below.)

Do not get me wrong, there is still a strange valley that happens here – facial expressions and eye movements are quite rigid – but its jumps and the limits are better than what made its debut on the pro vision last year. You can use these characters for video calls, or when someone joins your virtual space remotely.

The other new notable feature of updating the operating system is widgets. You can place widgets around your home, such as a clock, a calendar or a music widget, and they will always remain in the same places. Apple makes this tip by creating a card in your home, which is stored in private on your AVP device. The helmet will remember the locations of the widgets even when you restart it and look again.

I walked from one room to another with a pro vision helmet and I saw gogo widgets placed in the room. The list of stacked widgets includes a digital photo frame that acts as a window in your virtual space; You can see more of the photo as you get closer.

This is an interesting idea – whenever you put your helmet, you can move away from a virtual living space or a sort of office and pin applications in specific places of the room, as well as virtual calendars, clocks, music reading widgets, and more. You may have the winkled safari in your home office, then walk to your room and pin Apple TV. Your whole virtual space can be configured ready to go exactly like your physical home.

What is strange is how Apple wants Apple wants you to feel on a helmet and that you are walking in the house, interacting with space widgets and speaking to people with a digitized version of your face.

When The Vision Pro made its debut, Apple was mocked for including a father’s clip capturing a space video with the helmet while his two children played in front of him. Whenever I wore the helmet, my wife hated. But Apple has not changed its position – he wants you to live in Visionos, even if you end up looking like Wade Watts The player ready.
