Canada brings the world to Alberta for the G7 Summit of leaders in Kananaskis.
As a host of Summit, Prime Minister Mark Carney can invite all the leaders he chooses – even those of countries outside the G7 club – while he tries to shape Canada foreign policy and global geopolitics.
When asked on June 7 to explain how Canada decided on the list of non -G7 leaders to invite, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anita Anand, said that the government was looking for a discussion of “very serious problems that affect the global economy and the geostrategic environment”.
Here is a more in -depth examination of the names of the list of guests of Carney.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is a voluntary partner for Canada while he is trying to strengthen his business and defense ties through Indo-Pacific.
The two countries have values and small shared populations and depend on a global system based on rules to export large amounts of resources.

President Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva tried to associate with countries on the world of world, while progressing democracy and environmental protection.
He will bring these themes to the summit COP30 in the Amazon in November. His office said this week that Carney would attend this summit – Ottawa had not yet confirmed.
The president of Brazil, widely known as Lula, has echoed Canadian concerns about online disinformation from a coup in 2022.
The most controversial invitation of Carney was the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrives in Canada less than a year after the RCMP accused her government’s agents of playing a role in “generalized violence” in Canada.
Sikh separatist groups note that this month has been two years since the assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, which Canada has linked to New Delhi. India insists that these affirmations have no substance. The Sikh groups promised to organize major demonstrations at the G7 summit.

President PRABOWO SUBIANTO will attend the summit after years of Ottawa which will pursue deeper ties with Indonesia – a demographic and economic giant in Indo -Pacific.

President Claudia Sheinbaum deliberated for more than three weeks before accepting Carney’s invitation to attend the G7.
Senator Peter Boehm, who played a key role in many G7 peaks, noted that Sheinbaum does not travel often abroad and could have chosen to come on the probability of a meeting with Trump and Carney or progress on the issue of prices.
“There is the possibility of having a short trilateral on the side,” he said.
The ideal result would be a clear calendar for the upcoming examination of the North American trade agreement known as CUSMA, said Boehm, as well as immediate progress.
For example, “if we can conclude an agreement that will allow everyone to step back and say:” Well, we have obtained something from that and, prices descend. »»
President Lee Jae-Myung is impatient to present South Korea as a stable democratic country following a turbulent period that began with the former president declaring martial law last December.

South Korea has long aspired to join the G7 and maintains that its economic and regional influence is similar to that of the G7 Japan member. Ottawa and Seoul promised more in -depth cooperation on maritime security, critical minerals and the environment.
In November, South Korea will host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum, and the Prime Minister of Canada attended each APEC summit over the past two decades.
President Cyril Ramaphosa will host the G20 separate summit in November – a much larger and more diverse group than the G7 which also tends to see less consensus.
Boehm said that the G20 host could act as a bridge to the G7 by making the subjects and results of the smallest summit more relevant for the needs of developing countries.
Ramaphosa attended previous G7 meetings and was in the room when Canada asked for ocean protection action at its 2008 summit.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy could have another chance to speak with American president Donald Trump in Alberta, while Washington continues to end the war that started with the Crimean Russia in 2014 and increased to a large -scale invasion in 2022.

But Thursday evening, Abu Dhabi had not said if he had accepted the invitation of Canada. A reading Thursday of the Carney office said that the two leaders had spoken and discussed “possibilities of deepening bilateral collaboration in these sectors” and committed to staying in touch.
Canada has described the rich Gulf country as “a critical partner” in humanitarian efforts such as foreign aid projects and the resettlement of vulnerable Afghans.
Sudanese groups have stuck Canada for not publicly calling on water in the armaments of rapid support forces, paramilitary that the United States has accused of having made a genocide in Sudan. The United Arab Emirates strongly denied the involvement in the conflict.
Carney also invited Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman to the G7 summit, but Canadian officials said Thursday morning that the country would not participate.
“The attempt will be that the Prime Minister meets as many leaders as possible,” said an official information media on the history, who said there was no full list of guests on Thursday morning.

The American Central Intelligence Agency says that the Crown Prince had ordered the 2018 assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi to the Saudi Consulate of Istanbul.
Saudi Arabia is one of the biggest export destinations in Canada for military equipment.
Canada could accommodate NATO secretary general, Mark Rutte and the president of World Bank Ajay Banga at the top, said Boehm, and perhaps even the United Nations Secretary General or leaders of the World Trade Organization and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
A federal official said Thursday that the G7 chairmanship of Canada had involved working with other groups, including the African Union and the Gulf Cooperation Council. We do not know if the leaders of these groups will be present.
