Notorious cartel hired hacker to use surveillance cameras, phone data to track and kill FBI informants, U.S. says


A notorious drug cartel has enlisted a pirate who was able to infiltrate the telephone data and surveillance cameras of Mexico City to help follow and kill the informants of the FBI, revealed the US Ministry of Justice.

The report noted that modern technology has made it difficult to protect sensitive operations and sources.

“The progress of data exploration and analysis, facial recognition and the exploitation of computer networks have facilitated opponents of the national state, terrorist organizations and criminal networks to identify FBI staff and operations,” said audit.

The report has urged the FBI to carry out an assessment of business threats to determine where the agency is the most vulnerable.

The Sinaloa cartel, which was appointed a terrorist organization Earlier this year by the Trump administration, has long been one of the most powerful and ruthless crime unions.
