Nottingham Forest in ongoing talks over signing record £60m+ star for Nuno
Nottingham Forest are in talks over completing the signing of an “absolutely sensational” Premier League player this summer, according to a new transfer rumour.
Even the most optimistic Forest supporter could never have dreamed of how special this season would be for Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side. They have shown remarkable consistency in the Premier Leaguebeating the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City, and they now sit third in the table with just nine matches remaining in the 2024/25 campaign.
It means that the Reds are now within touching distance of qualifying for the Champions League, which would be a remarkable achievement for Nuno and his players, considering they may have been among the favourites to be relegated at the start of the season.
In terms of possible new signings this summer, Forest have been linked with a move for Udinese striker Lorenzo Luccawho has scored 10 goals in Serie A this term.
Even more excitingly, they are believed to be in contact over the signing of Sporting CP star Viktorwho is among Europe’s most potent attacking players currently. His record of 83 strikes in 91 matches for the Portuguese giants sums up his brilliance.
According to The Boot Room, Nottingham Forest are “ready to push hard” to sign Wolves attacker Matheus Cunha in the summer window, with talks ongoing. The update adds that ‘the lines of communication with Forest and Cunha’s camp have remained open and they are not being discouraged from pursuing the interest’.
The Reds ‘made enquiries about a possible January deal’, with the Brazilian having a £60m+ release clause in his current Molineux contract, which would comfortably smash Forest’s record signing – Elliot Anderson’s £34.6m move from Newcastle.
The £60,000-a-week Cunha has the ability to be a magnificent signing for Forest ahead of next season, and reaching the Champions League would only improve their chances of snapping him up.
The 25-year-old has arguably been Wolves’ best player in a disappointing season for them overall, as they battle to remain in the Premier League. He has netted 13 times in the competition, also registering four assists, and Micah Richards has waxed lyrical about him, saying:
“His football IQ is absolutely sensational. He’s the one who can unlock the doors. He finds the little pockets of space and makes the right decisions at the right times. He’s always scanning where he needs to be and always plays the right pass. He is so key in what Wolves are trying to do. He is the best at everything.”
Forest may have excelled in attack this season, with Chris Wood on fire and the likes of Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi providing quality out wide, but they still need reinforcements there this summer.

Cunha could help add another dimension in that area, being capable of excelling in a central attacking role, but also drifting wide to cause havoc. At 25, he is both experienced and still relatively young, and snapping him up from a fairly local rival would be the icing on the cake.
