The Duke of Edinburgh gave up birth from his nationality, name and naval career to support Queen Elizabeth II, who expresses the obligation and sacrifice of his consortium for over 70 years.
According to a new report, Prince Philip was expecting Meghan Markle to commit the same commitment to the royal family, but he was “disappointed”.

Prince Philip was often regarded as a stooping spine of the monarch and had long expressed the personal sacrifice of the royal obligation.
At that time, his marriage to Princess Elizabeth, Philip gave up not only her navy’s career but also for her Greece’s citizenship and last name. For decades, he had the role of a faithful consortium dedicated to supporting Queen Elizabeth II from behind the scenes.
This feeling of responsibilities and selflessness shaped his expectations to others who joined the monarchy, and it was not surprising that he waited with others who were married to the family showing the same level of dedication.

According to Royal Biographer Ingrid Seward, in an interview with 2020 Sky News, Philip struggled to understand Meghan Markle’s choices after his marriage with Prince Harry in 2018, and he was horrified at what he saw as a refusal to adopt the responsibilities of their titles.
“Philip couldn’t understand why Meghan not just support Harry and the monarchy in which he had supported the queen,” Seward explained Daily mail. “He gave up everything – his career, his identity – on the duty. It shaped his entire view.”
Seward continued, “I think he is very, very disappointed, because I think he feels he will give up his naval career to stay next to the queen and help the monarchy. And why can’t Meghan just give up his acting career, support his husband and support the monarchy?”

He added, “He just doesn’t understand why he couldn’t support Harry and help him instead of wanting to get his voice.”

According to Seward, when Harry and Meghan announced in January 2020 that they returned from their royal duties, the late queen called a crisis meeting in Sandringham to combat the situation.
However, Philip decided not to participate in discussions about the future of the couple.
Philip, along with Kate Middleton and Camilla, was particularly missing from a high -level meeting, attended by Elizabeth II, then Prince Charles, Prince William and Harry.
Meghan, who stayed in Canada with the baby arrangers at that time, was reported to be shocked that he was not included in the summit.
Seward revealed that the Duke of Edinburgh was not interested in participating in what he saw as a disturbing relationship.

“Of course, it annoys him tremendously,” he said in an interview in 2020. “And when they had a Sandringham summit, Prince Philip was seen to leave the house very quickly before they all arrived.”
“He simply doesn’t want to participate anymore,” he added.
Long before marriage to Elizabeth and her title, Duke Edinburgh, Philip made a significant personal change.
As a British citizen, he gave up his Greek and Royal Danish title and approved a new name, Philip Mountbatte, thus spreading his birth, Philippos Andreou, Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg.
His life changed even more dramatically when Elizabeth became a queen at the age of 25 after the death of his father, King George VI.
Historian Tessa Dunlop, in her biography, “Elizabeth and Philip,” stated that Philip accepted that she was not named to a prince consort, such as Queen Victoria’s husband, Prince Albert, recognizing that “times had changed”.

However, Philip did not kindly take the decision of the royal family to continue using Windsor instead of adopting his last name after his marriage with Queen Elizabeth.
When he hoped that the royal house would carry his name, the Prime Minister Winston Churchill, encouraged by Queen Mary, stood strong to keep Windsor.
The compromise floated, suggesting that the family could be called Edinburgh’s house. But as historian Tessa Dunlop said, “Philip hadn’t bullied what name, as long as it was his name.”
After all, even the compromise was rejected. Broadcaster Gyle Brandreth later revealed Philip’s frustration and quoted him to say that he was “the only man in the country who has not been given his name to his own children.”
Despite his disappointment, Philip passed the matter and fully took his royal role. Over the decades, he worked as a patron for over 800 organizations, which in particular established the Duke of Edinburgh, which will continue to affect young people around the world.

When Philip officially returned from the royal tasks on August 2, 2017, he had already made history as the longest serving consortium in the UK’s royal history. By that time, he had dedicated to more than seven decades to support Queen Elizabeth II and fulfill his role next to the world stage.
As the gap between Prince Harry, Meghan and the Royal Family becomes deepened, Duke has demanded mediation, hinting at the desire to repair broken bridges.
In May in an interview BBCThe Duke of Sussex opened his tight relationship with the royal family by losing the final offer for the safety of taxpayers in the UK.
“There have been so many disagreements between me and some of my families,” he said, adding that he was now “sorry” to them.
He went on, “I would like to mediate with my family. There is no longer any reason to continue fighting. Life is valuable. I don’t know how long my father is. He doesn’t talk to me because of this security position, but it would be nice to reconcile.”
