Skybound announced today that he had launched his first internal development studio, Quarter Up. The new studio is working on Invincible vsA new combat game taking place in the franchise of the same name created by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley. Skybound revealed the new studio today, shortly after revealing the new title, which should be launched in 2026.
According to Skybound, Quarter Up is a team based in Los Angeles with approximately more than 40 members. The team has collective experience in studios such as Activision Blizzard, Riot Games, Naughty Dog, Netflix, Amazon Games and Double Helix, among others. The name is a reference to the establishment of districts in arcade machines in order to maintain your gameplay. Several members of the team have previous experience on combat games, in particular the killer instinct of 2013.
Mike Willette, invincible VS Executive Producer, told Gamesbeat in an interview: “Quarter Up is the first internal game development studio in Skybound (second major internal studio) dedicated to the creation of combat games. As for how the studio started, Willette added: “Some of our key team members were part of the development team of Killer Instinct Double Helix”, which was finally bought by Amazon. Skybound and Quarter Up revealed the game during the weekend during the Xbox game window to Summer Game Fest. Invincible VS is a TAG 3V3 fighting game in the invincible universe and with several of his familiar characters, including Mark “Invincible” Grayson, Atom Eve, Omni-Man and more. Quarter Up not only recreated the comic sets in the game, but also its bloody and hyper-violent fight, as shown in the trailer for Reveal.
