Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham’s brother Jobe signs for Borussia Dortmund | Football News

The German football club Borussia Dortmund signs Jobe Bellingham, which follows the traces of the Real Madrid star, his brother Jude.

Borussia Dortmund has signed the English midfielder Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland until 2030, five years after bringing the older brother Jude to the club.

Dortmund announced the signature on Tuesday, the last day of the FIFA Club World Cup Transfer window.

“England U21 International has put the pen on paper on a five -year agreement with the eight German champions on Tuesday morning,” Dortmund said in a statement.

Dortmund would have paid costs of around 33 million euros ($ 38 million), with five million euros ($ 5.7 million) in additional premiums, to guarantee the services of the midfielder, the most that the club paid in advance for a player.

“I am very happy to be a Borussia Dortmund player now and fight for titles with this big club,” said Bellingham, 19.

“I want to play my role in the celebration of success with these big fans here and I will work on myself and with the team every day. And I am very happy that I wear the black and yellow jersey at the FIFA club World Cup.”

The Dortmund transfer record remains the 35 million euros (40 million dollars) paid to bring Ousmane Dembele de Rennes in 2018 – although this originally represents 15 million euros ($ 17 million), which increased by $ 20 million ($ 23 million) to sales costs once the player was transferred to Barcelona.

“Jobe is an extremely talented footballer with an impressive level of maturity and intelligence on the ground for someone so young,” said Lars Ricken, managing director of Borussia Dortmund for sport.

“We do not doubt that it is perfect for our philosophy to develop talented young people and to give them the opportunity to improve and settle at the highest level.

“His professionalism, his dynamism and his hunger to succeed will make him a real asset for our team.”

At 19, Jobe is two years younger than his midfielder’s brother in Real Madrid and England.

By moving to Dortmund, Jobe will follow in the footsteps of Jude to exchange the championship for the Bundesliga and the Westfalenstadion.

After leaving Birmingham City, Jude spent three seasons in Dortmund and has become one of the most recognizable players in world football since join the real in 2023.

As he did to Sunderland, the young Bellingham will carry “Jobe” on his jersey in Dortmund rather than his family name in order to distinguish himself from his brother.

Jobe scored four goals and has tabled three assists in 40 games for Sunderland this season when he helped the club win the Premier League promotion.

Jobe’s signing means that the two brothers could compete in the Extended Club World Cup of this season in the United States, if Dortmund meets Real Madrid during the eliminations of the competition.

Jude Bellingham joined Dortmund from the Boyhoood Club Birmingham in 2020, at the age of 17 and for around 23 million euros ($ 26 million), costs that reached 30 million euros ($ 34 million) when sales costs were added after its 100 million euro ($ 114 million) move to Real Madrid.

He made 132 appearances in yellow and black, marking 24 times and imposed 25 assists, and helped the club win the German cup in 2021 alongside Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho.

After leaving Dortmund, Jude faced her former team in the 2023-24 Champions League final, with a real 2-0 winning in Wembley.

Jobe became the second player in the city of Birmingham behind his brother when he made his debut at the age of 16 and 107 days.

He was appointed the young player of the season in the second English flight, again following the traces of his brother, five years later.

“He is in good shape as a violin and impatient to leave,” said the director of the Sporting club, Sebastian Kehl.

“He is determined to forge his own path at Borussia Dortmund and to make his mark on the way we play, and we are convinced that he will do this exactly,” added Kehl.

After a disappointing campaign in 2024-25, Dortmund slipped into fourth place after a burst at the end of the season, collecting 22 of the 24 possible points in their last eight games. The club will participate in the Champions League next season.

Dortmund is launching its Club World Cup campaign against Fluminense on June 17.
