The veteran republican strategist, Colin Reed, told Fox News that “the Democratic Party was trying to convince people that the tail did not stir the dog, and they do not respond to the most extreme elements of their party. Mamdani, occurring a wave of support from progressive and younger voters who hunted him with a long -term stroke, stormed Cuomo’s victory, who resigned from the Governor’s office in 2021 in the middle of several scandals and aimed at political return.

“Tonight is his night. He deserved it. He won,” said Cuomo, who for weeks had painted Mamdani as an inexperienced political politician, in a concession speech.

Mamdani – who proposed to eliminate bus prices through New York, manufacturing rents without tuition fees from New York University of the City of New York, freeze on municipal housing and “free children” for children up to 5 years – was energized by recent recommendations after winning the APP. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez And Senator Bernie Sanders, two main voices of the progressive movement.

“In our New York, power belongs to the people,” said Mamdani after declaring victory.

The primary campaign of the mayor of New York played while the Democratic Party endeavors to escape from the political desert, after last year’s elections, when the party lost control of the White House, the majority of the Senate and failed to regain control of the GOP chamber. Political analysts said that primary results would be considered a barometer from the Democratic Party leadership, towards the center if Cuomo had won and to the left if Mamdani was victorious.
