‘Same snack masquerading as dinner…’: Mohandas Pai calls out IndiGo’s in-flight meal

IndiGo is facing fresh criticism after former Infosys CFO Mohandas Pai called out the airline over its in-flight meal service.

Pai, in a post on X slammed IndiGo for serving what he called “recycled” snacks as dinner on a long-haul flight.

“Again shoddy service by @IndiGo6E,” he wrote. “7 pm flight from Delhi. Same ‘snack’ masquerading as dinner in stretch. This ‘snack’ is given in 3-20 BLR-Del flight—same recycling in 7 pm flight. Why are leftovers and bad snacks served as dinner? This is self-defeating.”

His remarks come amid another troubling incident involving the airline. A passenger, Daksh Sethi, shared a video on Instagram showing his seat suddenly swaying mid-flight while traveling from Delhi to Lucknow.

Describing the experience as a “mini heart attack,” he said, “The first time it happened, it was a terrifying feeling tbh. Never experienced anything like this. The seats could literally swing back and forth.”

Sethi noted that the crew promptly relocated affected passengers and arranged for maintenance upon landing. However, he warned, “It may not seem like a major issue, but I wouldn’t want an elderly person with a medical condition sitting on such a seat mid-flight.”

In response to the viral video, IndiGo issued an apology, calling the incident an “anomaly.”

The airline assured that the seats have a locking mechanism and that the issue would be “investigated thoroughly.”

Reactions online were mixed. While some criticized IndiGo’s service, one user humorously commented, “BYOS—bring your own seat.”

Another wrote, “This is happening too much these days due to lack of competition. IndiGo is in the worst condition in the last 7-8 months.”
