Scout hints David Moyes will personally push Everton move for Celtic star
A Premier League club are interested in acquiring the signature of a “really tough” Celtic player at the end of the season, according to a new claim from ex-scout Bryan King.
This is threatening to be another season to treasure at Parkhead, not least because the Hoops are once again romping towards Scottish Premiership title glory. The Scottish League Cup is also already in the bag, having defeated rivals Rangers on penalties in December.
On Saturday, Celtic kept their hopes of Scottish Cup glory alive, too, winning 2-0 at home to Hibernian in the quarter-finals, thanks to goals from Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah.
For all the Hoops’ current domestic dominance, however, that doesn’t mean that new signings won’t be needed in the summer transfer window. They are reportedly very keen on signing highly-rated young Motherwell midfielder Lennon Millerwith the Scot a player who could have a big future in the game as Rodgers works to build a team capable of challenging in Europe.
A permanent move for Jeffrey sip has also been mooted, having joined on a temporary basis from Crystal Palace back in January, with the utility man possibly feeling that a move away from the Eagles makes sense when the current campaign ends.
Speaking to Goodison Newsformer Everton scout King backed Everton to seal a move for Celtic centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers this summer, especially given David Moyes’ Hoops past.
“Moyes started his career at Celtic. They’re obviously going to get rid of one of their centre-backs, that is for sure. Therefore, if this player is potentially coming in, he will act as a potential replacement. If Carter-Vickers is the right man for the job, then whatever he is going to cost will be of Moyes’ interest.”
With doubts surrounding the futures of Jarrad Branthwaite and Michael Keane at Goodison Park, Carter-Vickers could be seen as a strong replacement, having shone for Celtic over a sustained period of time. The 27-year-old has been a rock at the heart of Brendan Rodgers‘ defence, so the idea of him leaving will be extremely worrying for the manager.
This season, Carter-Vickers has completed 94.6% of his passes across 23 Scottish Premiership appearances, outlining his quality on the ball, not to mention also averaging a monstrous four aerial duel wins per game.
Rodgers has hailed his mental resolve as a player, following a rare error at home to Club Brugge earlier this season, saying: “He’s a really, really tough character. He’s a great guy, he picked himself up. He was really strong and aggressive again in the game and got on with it and had a real bravery in the second half, because he was the one carrying the ball forward for us to start the attack.”

The lure of the Premier League could be great for Carter-Vickers, whose current Celtic deal doesn’t expire until the summer of 2029, so if he does want to leave, the Hoops are at least in a strong position to demand big money.
