Selena Gomez Left ‘Mortified’ After Taylor Swift’s Wild Afterparty
Gomez and Swift have been close friends for over a decade, with their friendship dating back to 2008 when they were both dating Jonas Brothers, Gomez with Nick Jonas and Swift with Joe Jonas.
Despite their romantic ties not lasting, their bond did, and Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift have since become one of Hollywood’s most beloved celebrity friendships.

“As a couple, we went to Taylor’s party after some awards show,” Gomez shared. While she found it “kind of cute,” she also admitted to being “mortified” upon realizing they were among the first guests to arrive.
Blanco couldn’t resist teasing Gomez about her punctuality, revealing that their early arrivals are a consistent pattern.
“We’re the first people at every single party when I go with you,” he joked, before adding, “You, like, show up when my mother shows up to a party.”

Gomez playfully grimaced in response to his roasting.
However, Blanco suggested there was another reason the night felt uncomfortable. He reminded Gomez that at the time, they were still keeping their relationship under wraps, which meant avoiding any obvious signs of affection at the party.
“We didn’t even, like, touch each other or, like, really look at each other,” he recalled.
Blanco also mentioned that Gomez seemed slightly irritated when other women unknowingly flirted with him, unaware that he was already taken.
“If, like, a girl came up to me or something, you were like, ‘Hmm,’” he said.
Gomez, smiling, quickly denied his claim, saying, “No! Stop, don’t say that.”

Though the couple didn’t specify which of Swift’s gatherings they were referring to, their romance became public knowledge in December 2023, when they were seen kissing in New York City while celebrating the “Blank Space” singer’s birthday. That same month, Gomez confirmed they had been secretly dating for some time.

The pair initially went to great lengths to keep their relationship out of the spotlight. Blanco reflected on one of his favorite secret dates with Gomez, recalling how they disguised themselves for a low-key outing at the Santa Monica Pier.
“I remember having so much fun being with you ’cause we could just fully let go and not worry about anything else,” he said. “We rode the Ferris wheel, and we got corn dogs and cotton candy.”
“It was so cute,” Gomez agreed, adding that she was “in a state of ecstasy” during their time together.
Now, the couple is no longer hiding their love, having announced their engagement in December. Their highly anticipated joint album, “I Said I Love You First,” drops this Friday.

Gomez is crediting her fiancé with reigniting her passion for music as they prepare to release their first collaborative project.
In an interview with Rolling Stonethe 32-year-old singer and actress opened up about the creative process behind the album and how Blanco played a pivotal role in helping her reconnect with music.
Gomez, whose last full-length album, “Rare,” was released in 2020 (followed by the Spanish-language EP “Revelación” in 2021), admitted that she had stepped away from music due to uncertainty about her artistic direction.
“I was very frustrated and kind of confused on where I wanted to go next musically,” she shared. “And we had been together for a while, and obviously I would confide in him. I couldn’t figure out my sound.”
Fortunately, Blanco, a celebrated producer and songwriter, provided the encouragement and creative support she needed. “It helps that he knows a little bit about music,” Gomez quipped, before explaining that their collaboration came about organically. “This process was unlike any other process I’d ever been through.”
Blanco echoed Gomez’s sentiments, revealing that they kept the project “really close to the chest” by only working with close friends. He also shared that songwriting for the album often happened spontaneously.
“Every time she would wake up, I’d take out a pen so she could write what was on her mind,” Blanco recalled. “Then we’d go into the other room and create it, and it became a song. It was such a cathartic and therapeutic experience.”
