Right away Bat, I let you know that this bed is made of silk or snow. I would say it is done with something even better – latex. Latex feeling can be difficult to identify, as I heard in relation to everything, a yoga carpet or a thicker trampoline in a water bed. The fact is that latex has a cushioning, pressure relief and inflatable sensation. It is also good enough to keep the warmth and allergens, which is a victory for hot sleepers and those who suffer from allergies. With the organic mattress S&S, I wanted to see if this bed was really the intersection of these performance aspects, associated with an ecological construction. After a week of tests, I have in mind a few people who would be the main candidates for this bed.

The S&S Biological mattressThe construction is ecological from top to bottom, with certifications To show it. The bed contains GOTS (Global Organic Standard Textile), GOLS (Global Organic Latex Standard) and Eco-Institut Materials. As a professional mattress tester, I can check that these are some of the best certifications you can get to support the biological complaints of your product. The latex used is Sri Lanka, the cotton of India, and even the coils come from Toronto, Canada, in order to limit the pollution of the shipment by keeping this material on the continent. The Eco-Institute certification guarantees that materials do not contain harmful substances or do nothing of the same thing that would be counterattack to its “organic” status.
Based on the firmness with which you are going, be it the farm, the average means or the plush, the construction will vary slightly. I went with an average company, which includes a pillow roof in euros. Silk & Snow declares on its website that this particular firmness is intended for “sleeping on the side, back and combo”, to which I said: “Let’s see on this subject”.
The construction of the business environment includes organic cotton coverage, organic quilted wool, organic quilted latex, a thicker organic latex layer and pocket coils. Now that you have the recipe, what does it all mean? Starting with the upper layers, the pillow roof has a GOTS certified organic cotton cover, with a layer of wool below which is also – shocking – GOTS certified. These two materials are breathable and porous, so they are intended to stay at room temperature. Wool is also fire resistant, which means that no artificial fire barrier is used here.
Latex layers are perforated for air flow and pressure relief, and are of a particular firmer variety called Dunlop. This refers to how latex has been developed, and there is a 0.8 inch upper layer, a material barrier, then a 1.5 inch layer for an advanced cushion. You have a material barrier to protect the latex, and the bases at the base are pocketed for a personalized support. They are reinforced directly in the middle and around the edges, so the feeling of extrafirm helps lumbar support and preventing you from switching to the edge while lying down or seated on the sides. To complete the protection, the bottom is another layer of wool to return the home to bed.
The first night of test of the S & S Organic, I slipped and I came out cold, which does not come normally for me with mattresses. I felt that the surface of the bed give a soft purshback, but not in a way that thwarted the relief of the pressure around my hips and my shoulders. Over the week, I started to notice other advantages of the bed. It was very easy to move, giving me a little additional “punch” if I changed the sides. It was not a slingshot, but the construction of the latex and the coil of the bed makes the surface very reactive. Until now, I agree with the evaluation of the end of Silk & Snow from what it is a lateral and combo support mattress.
