THE Third and last season of Netflix Calmar game is filled with unforgettable moments. The finals of the series are generally. But even after everything is wrapped in the games themselves, the show had a last surprise for the public, and it is a Doozy. We wrote about it here But now, the creator of the show Hwang Dong-Hyuk weighed on what he meant with the scene, what it implies, And why he threw that person. Of course, the big spoilers follow.
At the very end of Squid Game 3, The man from the front (Lee Byung-Hun) crosses the streets of Los Angeles when he sees a familiar view. It is two people who play in Ddakji, the game that his team uses in Korea to recruit people for the biggest event. He is apparently surprised because it is the confirmation of what he has surely always thought – these games occur everywhere. And we, as an audience, are surprised because the recruitment is the Oscar -winning actress Cate Blanchett.
While this scene clearly seems to put on an American future Calmar game The spin-off was not Hwang’s main intention. “I have not finished it on this note in order to deliberately leave room so that other stories occur,” said the creator The Hollywood Reporter. “Gi-she [Lee Jung-jae’s character] And Front Man, through these characters, the games in Korea ended. And because this story started with me who wanted to attack the problems concerning unlimited competition and the system created in late capitalism, I wanted to leave it on a note highlighting the fact that these systems, even if we fall, it is not easy to dismantle the whole system – it will always be repeated. This is why I wanted to finish with an American recruiter. And I wrote this scene wanting to end the show for the show, not to open rooms for something else. »»
However, of course, that does exactly that, especially when you launch a major A-List actress like Blanchett. Hwang also talked about how it produced. “At the beginning, I threw different ideas. I said to myself, “Should be a man we see as the recruiter?” But I thought that, unlike [the] Korea [version]Having a woman who is a recruiter for the American system would be a nice contrast and also a fairly powerful and punchy element, “he said.” So we were ready to have a woman. Then I thought: “Who would be the right choice for that?” It is a very short scene. There is only one line, so we needed someone who had this level of presence and charisma to completely dominate the screen at that moment. And it naturally led me to Cate Blanchett. I have always been a fan of his. He is someone who can instantly attract your attention with a single look. This is how this is how we set ourselves. “”
Hwang also admits that he does not intend to make another Calmar game, He didn’t hear anything about what David Fincher would have worked. But if and when it all happens, he will look. “Honestly, nothing was officially said to me officially by Netflix on this subject,” he said. “I only read it in articles myself too. I have always been a big fan of David Fincher’s work – Seven And I loved her films. So if he had to create an American Calmar gameI think it would be very interesting to look at. I would certainly click on it immediately after its release, if it happened. “”
