Story Kitchen, the film and television company behind game adaptations like Sonic The Hedgehog and Tomb Raider, has teamed up with a Swedish developer Moon studios To adapt the Dark Fantasy game acclaimed by criticism to Midnight Walk for Film and TV.
Released last month with praise, The Midnight Walk is a world of artisanal clay of shadow and sorrow, a mysterious figure known as Burnt, you have to travel through five obsessive tales of fire and darkness – guided only by the sparkling flame of a lost lantern called Potboy.
The game is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation VR2 and PC via Steam.
Critics praised the game as one of the most distinctive and emotionally resonant independent titles of the year: 9.5 / 10 – Dualshockers; 9/10 – IGN; 4/5 – The player; and 4/5 – Comicbook.com.
“As we saw the midnight walk, we knew it was something special,” said Dmitri Mr. Johnson and Mike Goldberg, co -founders of Story Kitchen, in a statement. “His world is of bewitching beauty, her emotionally raw history, and her absolutely superior know-how. We are delighted to help bring Moonhood’s vision to an even wider audience.”
Moonhood Studios, founded by acclaimed creators Klaus Lygeled and Olov Redmalm, made a name for himself to marry tactile art with a deep design and focused on the story.
“Our team spilled the heart and the soul in the midnight walk,” said Lygeled and Redmalm, in a press release. “Seeing this story between now in the world of cinema and television with a partner like Story Kitchen is a dream come true. We are looking forward to having the public in a whole new light.”
The producers are currently meeting writers and the project is currently at the start of development. Story Kitchen worked on adaptations such as Tomb Raider, Just Cause, Sonic the Hedghog, It takes two and Shinobi.
I asked why Story Kitchen saw a potential in a game under the radar like this. Goldberg said in an email: “It has an incredibly beautiful world construction that we have not seen since since Nightmare before ChristmasWith a continuous narrative expansion planned on the side of the games. Excited to go Tim Burton / Guilleromo del Toro’esque to set it up for the film (then television). “”
And Johnson said in an email: “From a technological point of view, he is particularly convincing. The team has achieved more than 700 physical models before scanning them in unreal, giving production a significant step ahead with already existing assets in physical and digital form.”
Story Kitchen keeps a television agreement at the first overview of Amazon MGM studios and an animated film first overview at DreamWorks Animation.
Moonhood is an independent game studio based in Gothenburg, Sweden, known for its unique mix of hand -made visuals and emotional narration.
