SunThe music company is currently in a legal battle with music labels, the acquisition of WavtoolA digital audio work stadium AI based on a browser (DAW). This acquisition aims to improve Suno’s editing capacities for songwriters and producers.
Wavtool, launched in 2023, offers several tools to musicians, such as the separation of STEMs, the AI AI generation and an AI music assistant. Suno will integrate Wavtool technology into its new Interface editionwho launched this month.
The terms of the agreement have not been disclosed. A company spokesperson noted that “most” Wavtool employees have moved to Suno’s products and engineering teams, although the exact number of those who did not have been revealed.
The acquisition comes in the heels of another trial against the company. The musician Country Tony Justice and his music label, 5th Wheel Records, filed a complaint against Suno earlier this month, alleging that Suno used sound recording by copyright to form his AI music generator.
This allegation is similar to legal proceedings Posed last year by Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment against Suno for copyright violation. According to Bloomberg, the main music labels are License conferences With Suno.
Suno acquired Wavtool a few months ago, with the DAW based on offline browser in November. The moment of this week’s announcement seems intentional, perhaps aimed at diverting attention from the trial. Legal disputes often shake the confidence of investors, so that the announcement of this acquisition can serve as a way to reassure them that the company remains attached to growth.
