Taylor Swift ‘Wasn’t Happy’ About Being Pulled Into Blake Lively’s Legal War

The situation is rumored to have strained the singer’s decade-old friendship with the actress as Swift snubbed the “Gossip Girl” star in her guest list for the 2025 Superbowl.

Blake Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynoldshave since secured a protective order to keep their conversations with “high-profile” people confidential amid the legal battle with Baldoni.

Swift is less than pleased about being dragged into the ongoing legal battle between Lively and Baldoni.

Lively, who has been friends with the “Blank Space” hitmaker for more than 10 years, filed a lawsuit in December accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment on the set of Colleen Hoover’s book adaptation.

Baldoni denied the allegations at the time and filed a $400 million countersuit where he accused Lively, her husband, Reynolds, and their publicist, Leslie Sloane, of running a smear campaign against him.

He also alleged Lively and her husband attempted to hijack the film from him using their celebrity status.

Swift was eventually named in the case after Baldoni claimed that Lively referenced herself as Khaleesi from “Game of Thrones” and referred to Reynolds and Swift as “my dragons” in an alleged bid to force him to accept tweaks she made to the now-infamous rooftop scene in the film.

A source told Us Weekly that the global popstar “wasn’t happy with being brought into the legal mess.”

The source, however, claimed that “there’s no truth that this has hurt their relationship,” adding that they are “still close friends.”

While the actual state of Swift and Lively’s relationship remains unclear, a source told TMZ that the singer “resents” Lively for “calling her one of her dragons.”

They added that the 14-time Grammy winner was blindsided over a purported meeting she had with Lively and Baldoni.

The source claimed Swift came to Lively’s apartment when she was told by the actress and had “no idea” that Baldoni would be there.

Amongst other things, they also explained that the singer believes Lively “timed” her meeting with Baldoni so Swift would arrive before he left.

The insider also noted that Swift was “baffled” by Lively branding her a “dragon,” noting: “It’s weird to say that about a friend.”

Swift has also learned Lively has been “inappropriately leveraging her name for a long time, like telling a young actress that Taylor ‘cast her,’ which simply did not happen.”

After Baldoni revealed he felt pressured by Swift and Reynolds during his meeting with Lively, a source close to Swift told the Daily Mail that the pop star was left “confused.”

“She finds Justin’s interpretation of the encounter perplexing, and those close to her suspect she’s being drawn into the situation as a means to target Blake,” the insider told the news outlet.

They noted: “Taylor is proud of the film because her music was featured in it, which gave her a sense of involvement, though she wasn’t fully aware of the extent of the project’s developments.”

The insider emphasized that Swift’s relationship with Lively is “purely a friendship, with no interest in influencing or controlling Blake’s projects.”

The source shared that the first group of potential witnesses that Baldoni’s team wants to question have been contacted, amongst whom are Swift, “It Ends With Us” co-stars Jenny Slate and Isabela Ferrer, senior staff at the talent agency WME, which represents Lively, and executives at Sony.

It comes as a judge granted Lively and Reynolds’ request to place a protective order on sensitive communications and documents with their celebrity pals.

The couple filed to keep their conversations with “high-profile” people confidential, fearing that Baldoni may leak it to the press.

However, it wasn’t a complete win for them, as Judge Lewis Liman ruled that the request was “granted in part and denied in part.”

“The Court has narrowed the provision to stated that information may be marked AEO only if its disclosure is ‘highly likely to cause a significant business, commercial, financial, or privacy injury,'” Judge Liman wrote in his memorandum, per the New York Post.

Amid the legal standoff, Swift has notably remained silent on the issues and has not publicly addressed the situation.

Ahead of the trial scheduled for 2026, legal experts shared that her continued silence “speaks volumes.”

“Taylor has publicly distanced herself from this – and I get why. She likely hopes to stay out of the mess entirely,” PR expert Adrienne Uthe told Fox News. “But that’s not reality. Like it or not, people want to hear her testimony. She’s staying silent because nothing good comes from getting involved – and honestly, who would want to if they were in her position? But her silence also says a lot.”

“She appears aligned with Hollywood’s power players – and that tarnishes the ‘good girl’ image many of her fans have held onto,” Uthe added.

“People stay strategically quiet for many reasons, and sure, some stars just want to avoid the press – I respect that. But for someone as media-savvy as Taylor Swift to stay out of this? That speaks volumes. And frankly, we all want to hear her side,” the PR expert noted.
