TCL 60 XE Nxtpaper 5G Review: A Pleasing Matte Screen

The 5,010 mAh battery seems to last longer – I regularly hit about 30 to 25% to bed with average use, although you can extend it with Ink Max mode. There is no wireless charge, but this phone has all the births you want, from a microSD card location for stretch storage and NFC for contactless payments to a headset. The phone feels a little slippery and heavy, so I recommend finding a case safe, although I dropped it a handful of times and fortunately I don’t see any scratches on the glass screen.

This will work with all the main American operators and is exclusively sold unlocked on Amazon, a nice break in many other TCL phones that are locked on a carrier in the United States. Speaking of, I had no problem with 5G connectivity, but I received comments on the quality of the calls. I did not find it difficult to hear others, although I want the volume of call to become stronger, but a few people had trouble getting heard via the loudspeaker of the phone. I tested this with friends, who had no problem, so it is difficult to say if it is a network problem or the appellant’s equipment.

This leaves the camera, which is not terrible for a phone of $ 250. The quality strongly depends on lighting, and even inside during daylight, you will probably want to activate night mode to avoid a blurred photo. The main 50 MP can find it difficult for high contrast scenes, and the colors do not seem super precise, but the results are passable. No problem of scanning QR codes, at the very least.

The biggest drawback is software updates. This phone runs Android 15, and TCL only promises one Android upgrade to Android 16 at a given time in the future. More Android features after that, although it obtains a total of two years of security updates. It’s not much worse than other phones at this price, but Motorola now offers two Android upgrades for its Motorcycle G telephones. TCL should do better.

I would buy a CMF phone 2 pro ($ 279) On the TCL 60 Xe NXTPAPER 5G, because it looks better, has better performance and more beautiful cameras. But the pleasant matt screen has this soothing quality that I came to appreciate last week, and I like the ability to move on to even less saturation or monochrome if I read a lot. If you’ve looked at something like the Palma 2 box for a while, I think you’ll have a much more pleasant experience with this TCL.
