Tesla has made brand requests for the term “Tesla Robotaxi”, after the company’s previous attempts to secure the trademarks for its planned autonomous vehicle service.
The company initially applied in October 2024 for the brand of the words “Robotaxi” and “Cybercab”. The American Patent and Brands (USPTO) Office told the company last month that it needed more details to authorize a brand for “Robotaxi”, a term used by a number of other companies like Waymo, like Techcrunch Reported last month for the first time. The USPTO has interrupted Tesla’s “cybercab” request due to the number of other companies trying to mark various uses of the term “cyber”.
Tesla submitted the three new applications for the more specific “Tesla Robotaxi” sentence as it seems to begin to test in Austin, Texas, later this month. It seeks to reach the brands to be used in reference to the expected autonomy of Tesla carpooling servicethe linked mobile applicationand the vehicles themselves.
It is unlikely that requests will be examined in time for this test; Brand applications are generally found for months before being assigned to an “examiner”.
Tesla also has applications pending for brands on sentences “In Robobus“”Gap,” And “Cyberbus», Presumably for the conceptual vehicle in the form of a van that he showed last October when he revealed the Cybercab prototype. During this event, CEO Elon Musk called this vehicle as “Robovan”. But the Estonian robotic delivery company already has a brand For this term.
