Before anything else, you will have to decide between ink and laser. I will go into details with regard to each model, but the most important consideration is the type of paper, because it is a limitation rather than an advantage. Laser printers use heat in the bond process, which means that if you regularly print on feverish envelopes or photo paper, you will need to use an ink printer or go to a thermally secure alternative, which can be prohibitive if you print a lot.
Incripted jets are the most common flavor of the domestic printer, and they work as you could expect, boiling ink until it splashes a series of tiny holes. Didn’t you expect it? Me neither! Quite exciting things.
Inkjet printers are available in two flavors, with pre-filled cartridges or integrated tanks. The latter quickly becomes more popular thanks to better prices, more convenience and a massive reduction in waste plastic. If you buy a new printer in 2025, you should opt for an ink tank, if not a laser printer. They are a little more work to configure and maintain, because you must keep the tanks completed, and they should stay in the same place on a flat surface to avoid leaks. I cannot imagine many situations where a printer would move and the inclination, but it is a consideration.
Did you think the inkwell jets were cool? Laser printers work by exploding a tube full of dried plastic particles, then fusion them on paper with heat. They tend to cost more, but the cost per page is generally much lower. When an ink cartridge of $ 20 can print 200 pages, a $ 60 toner cartridge could print 2000. They tend to be much faster than inkjet printers, and you don’t have to worry about drying. In addition, the pages come out of the pleasant and warm printer, and you cannot really price on this.
Laser printers are my favorite type as long as your type of paper and your budget can support them.
