Two centuries ago, in a villa rolled up in Switzerland rented by Lord Byron, a young girl named Mary Shelley accepted a challenge to write a history of ghosts, and created what was going to become one of the most famous names of horror: Frankenstein. Roxana Saberi examines the creation of Shelley’s mythical tale, published in 1818, and what her story of a scientist who exploits life herself must teach the public today.
