The ‘Wheel of Time’ Showrunner Still Hopes Its Story Continues Elsewhere

Fans have not abandoned on The wheel of time– the epic fantastic adaptation Robert Jordan who was Right suddenly canceled by Amazon after three seasons – and no longer Showrunner Rafe Judkins. Judkins took Instagram To share his reaction to cancellation (he feels the pain of the fans, it is clear), rent his collaborators and weigh on the current state of the television industry. Here is the full declaration:

“I was asked the same questions several times last week – why was The wheel of time canceled? And the truth is that I don’t know. I would like to be able to say something clear and well tidy that explains to all of us who love why it is coming to an end, but unfortunately, I can’t.

What I can say is that the actors and the team of our show are the most talented and wonderful group of people with whom I have never had the pleasure of working. And we have all been incredibly lucky to do something that was not only loved by fans (and even criticisms! Ha!), But was also watched by a large number of people all over the world, appearing in the top 10 of Nielsen for almost 20 weeks, a very few spectacles feat was able to correspond in the past decade.

One of my fundamental objectives in the realization of this show, even from the first manufacturing of the field, was to tell the whole story. Because Wheel of Time’s books do what television has always done the best, gain better as you go. And as our actors and our team have expressed themselves on board, they could also see the potential if we were allowed to finish this incredible story. We have made many sacrifices, both personal and creative, along the way to get to this end, so coming short is like a devastating blow for all of us.

Many has been written on this greater television trend towards fewer seasons with fewer episodes and find faster ways to acquire additional streaming subscribers. But I really believe that it goes against the fundamental force of television – a long narration. It is an art form, a bit like Epic Fantasy, which, at its best, gives people a place to spend time with the characters they like year after year. And I think there are executives, studios and networks that know it. I believe that we will find our way through this current iteration of industry and come back to what we do best – grasping great characters in the salons and people’s lives every week. “”

Finally, Judkins offered a little hope to Time wheelThe future, referring to another favorite series of fans who obtained a joyfully unexpected resurrection after being canceled.

“Will Time wheel Do this with another network and finish history? Unfortunately, this is not something that happens often. But it happens. In fact, one of the reasons why we chose Amazon for the first time as a house for the show was because they were picking up The extent After Syfy canceled it. So who knows, maybe the Time wheel The show will do what books have always managed to do since the first day – Defy traditional definitions of “beginnings” and “ends”.
