Threads, the Meta microblogging platform, tests Spoiler’s text, according to a job of the Meta-PDG Mark Zuckerberg.
The spoiler text refers to words (or images) that are grayed out in a post and only become readable if you click manually to see them. As its name suggests, Spoiler’s text is often used on platforms like Discord or Reddit to help people communicate on new films, television programs or books without accidentally revealing the plot and twists and turns for people who are not caught.
This is a nice upgrade of the quality of life on the user side, but it also helps Meta by encouraging more conversations on pop culture without people who care about spoiling others.
“Popular shows like” The Last of Us “and” The White Lotus “regularly tend to the sons during their seasons, a clear sign of the growing entertainment community and pop culture of the application,” Meta said in a press release.
Spoiler’s text can also be useful in other circumstances, such as the scrambling of the text or images that are not raped, but can always be swept away for certain users. (Looking at my friend who shares the #bruisewatch updates after their Frisbee games.)
As a functionality currently in testing, the text / spoiler images are not deployed to all users. For those who have it, text or images can be marked as spoilers by highlighting them before publishing, then selecting “Mark Spoiler” from the menu that appears.
