BbcUS President Donald Trump says he was “very surprised” and “disappointed” the criticism of his former Elon Musk ally concerning his bill on the budget of the centerpiece.
“Elon and I had an excellent relationship. I don’t know if we want it,” Trump told the journalists in the White House on Thursday.
It was the most direct criticism of the president to date on Musk’s lobbying efforts against proposals aimed at reducing taxes and reducing public spending – a plan that aroused criticism from Musk and certain Republicans.
In response, Musk doubled on X, saying that the bill was filled with “pork” – unnecessary government spending – and writing: “Either you get a big and ugly bill, or a thin and magnificent bill.”
