UN member states voted for an overwhelming majority Thursday for an immediate Gaza ceasefire, release from Hamas hostages and urgent aid to 2 million Palestinians. The General Assembly of 193 Nations adopted the resolution 149-12 written in Spanish, with 19 abstentions, condemning famine as a war tactic. The move attracted applause.
