US President Donald Trump ordered federal immigration officials on Sunday to prioritize the expulsions of the cities led by democrats after major demonstrations broke out in Los Angeles and other major cities against immigration policies in the Trump administration.
Trump in a publication on social networks called US immigration and customs’ application (ICE) “to do everything in their power to achieve the very important objective of providing the biggest mass deportation program in history”.
He added that to achieve the goal that managers “must extend efforts to hold and expel illegal foreigners in the largest American cities, such as Los Angeles, Chicago and New York, where millions and millions of illegal foreigners reside.”
Trump’s statement comes after weeks of increased application, and after Stephen Miller, Deputy Chief of the White House and Trump’s Immigration Policy, said that ice officers would target at least 3000 arrests per day, compared to around 650 per day during the first five months of Trump’s second term.
At the same time, the Trump administration ordered immigration agents to suspend arrests on farms, restaurants and hotels, after Trump moved away from the impact of the aggressive application on these industries, according to a familiar American official with the question that only spoke under the cover of anonymity.
