Anna Wintour moves away from her role as the editor -in -chief of US Vogue, but will retain the editorial control of Léger magazine.
She announced on Thursday the news of Vogue staff at a meeting.
The long -standing power of Vogue is looking for an editorial content manager to manage daily operations more, but retains a lot of power to keep him a force in the magazine that has built his reputation in fashion, said a person familiar with the decision to the Associated Press on Thursday.
Wintour, 75, will remain content director for the magazine publisher Condé Nast and the world editorial director of Vogue, a confirmed company spokesperson at CBC News.
The news has made a world on the fashion world and the Wintour on social networks in the midst of breathtaking titles that Wintour “resigns” from Vogue. The new track will fall directly from Wintour as a global editorial director, said the person.
As content director, Wintour will continue to supervise all the Condé Nast brands in the world, notably American Vogue, Wired, Vanity Fair, GQ, AD, Condé Nast Traveler, Glamor, Bon Appétit, Tatler, World of Interiors, Allure and more, with the exception of New York.
Wintour also oversees the annual Met Gala, the biggest fashion evening and a major collection of funds for the fashion wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Four years ago, the company changed its editorial structure, bringing together for the first time the editorial teams from around the world.
Each market where Condé Nast operates has an editorial content manager led by a world editorial director.
The new role in American Vogue is part of this reorganization. The new structure has already been deployed in other vogue titles from around the world.
The company will not seek a editor to replace Wintour in American Vogue, replacing this title by the new head of editorial content. The idea is to allow Wintour for more time to take care of other titles in his portfolio.
Wintour transformed Vogue during his decades in the magazine.
She was appointed creative director in 1983, was editor -in -chief of British Vogue from 1985 to 1987, then joined the American title as editor.
She modernized the magazine by presenting celebrities on its covers and mixing haute couture with a more affordable street style.
She defended emerging designers, including Marc Jacobs, Alexander McQueen and John Galliano, and has widened the scope of the brand by adding new titles in the world.
