Who Is Jake Wyllie? Kambosos Jr. Faces Unknown Opponent Before Potential Title Fight Vs. Richardson Hitchins
George Kambosos Jr. confirmed today on X that his next fight will be for a world title against IBF light welterweight champion Richardson Hithins after he takes care of his 12-rounder against his replacement opponent Jake Wyllie this Saturday, March 22nd.
Wyllie (16-1, 15 KOs) was recruited as the opponent for the former unified lightweight champion Kambosos Jr. (21-3, 10 KOs) after his initially scheduled foe pulled out with an illness today. It will be interesting to see how the little ‘Emperor’ does against Wyllie because he’s had no preparation time for his style, and he’s been fighting at 140 since 2022.
George needs a showcase performance in this fight to excite the boxing public about seeing him challenge IBF 140-lb champion Richardson Hitchins (19-0, 7 KOs) for his belt later this year. Hitchins is arguably the King of the light welterweight division, and his style is a blend of Shakur Stevenson and Terence Crawford. He can punch and box. A knockout win would be perfect for Kambosos on Saturday if he can find some power somewhere.
Kambosos, 31, is coming off a ten-month layoff after a bad showing in his eleventh-round knockout loss to Vasily Lomachenko on May 12th last year in Perth, Australia. George’s performance in that fight was far worse than his two losses against Devin Haney. Loma toyed with Kambosos in that fight, schooling him the entire fight before dropping him twice in round eleven to get the stoppage. Who knows how much that thrashing took out of Ferocious?
Five-year professional Jake Wyllie has yet to fight a recognizable world-class fighter, and he may not be up to the task of facing the fiery spark plug Kambosos.
Whyllie’s last five opponents
– Allan Villanueva
– Dylan Emery
– Nahathuch Paharn
– Warsk of Airawong
– Ashley Huston

Damn former Champ, Yordan just pulled out, due to medical issues and now is in hospital. Boxing always the unpredictable 🥊 Most importantly I hope he’s ok as I know he was preparing very hard for this opportunity.
