Hollywood really loves franchise, especially in the last 20 years. Business has become an obsession to keep a once beloved movie series alive, often bringing something back that has died for many years. Director Colin Trevorrow brought very successfully “Jurassic Park” back to life in 2015 with “Jurassic World”. According to many measures, it was as successful as any movie has ever been.
“Jurassic World” made more than $ 1.6 billion in the box officeComing one of the biggest movies until then. The audience ate it and 14 years after a relatively disappointment of “Jurassic Park III” suddenly a new life in the series. Still, Trevorrow walked away from the director’s chair and did not return to the Helm -sequel, which arrived in 2018 in the form of “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”.
“Jurassic Park is like Star Wars. Different directors can give a different taste for every movie,” Trevorrow said in an interview in 2015 Baths. “I would be involved in some way, but not as a director.” Trevorrow, along with his writing partner Derek Connolly, ended up writing “Fallen Kingdom” and and Bayona (“orphanage”) to direct. As it turns out, Bayona was considered at “Jurassic World” before Trevorro got a jobSo in a way it was the whole circle.
But the question is still: why would Trevorrow walk away from something that became so massively successful? Especially since he had only directed the low -budget “safety” until then. The filmmaker certainly had the reasons.
Trevorrow together with “Jurassic Park” instructor Steven Spielberg Sketched the entire “Jurassic World” trilogy as a result of the success of the first movie. So even though Trevorrow is not going to be directed, he had an influence on the story. But it still doesn’t explain why he left behind, which would have been a Slam Dunk gig. Universal images would surely have been happy after receiving him, and Spielberg helped him personally.
“Part of the work and some of the work of Steven asked me to do is to build something that built the foundation that could be expanded.” Trevorrow explained /movie in June 2015 in an interview. “I think I should make it very clear to readers /movie, and there are a lot of people who read your website that I think that when you hear that someone where I’m at the moment would decide not to continue this franchise program, you think of one of three things. [and] The movie sucks, they had a bad experience with me, or I had a bad experience of making a movie. None of these things are true. “
So what was it exactly? Trevorrow continued to explain that he had a very positive experience of making the first movie – so much that he felt like they returned to “Jurassic World 2”, who could only spoil the experience:
“This was such a positive experience for me. I loved it so much. Inverted because I loved it so much that I couldn’t see how I could have a better experience of making a dinosaur movie. I’m not sure how I could make a dinosaur movie that gives more than I give this movie.”
“The decision to me not to guide the other – I’m creatively involved, but not to guide – it really happened a long time ago,” Trevorrow added at the time.
One of the biggest reasons why Trevorrow came to the conclusion that “Fallen Kingdom” did not join that he wanted to make other films. “I feel the responsibility to myself as a filmmaker to make different movies,” he said in the same 2015 /movie interview.
For that, Later in 2015, it was announced that he intended to direct the “Star Wars” episode IXEnd of JJ Abrams’ “The Force Awakens” sequel to the trilogy. A job that big would not leave the space for him to direct the new “Jurassic” publication.
Unfortunately, for Trevorrow, he left the “Star Wars” episode IX in 2017 after creative clashes behind the scenes with Lucasfilm. The movie version we got “Star Wars: Skywalker’s rise” was greatly guided by Trevorrow’s version of “Duel of the Fates”, as proved when the script finally leaked online.
But this situation leveled out Trevorow to return and end what he started. Months later, it was confirmed that he directs the third round to the “Jurassic World” trilogy, which we will see under the name “Jurassic World Dominion”. In the 2021 interview EntertainmentTrevorrow explained why he decided to return to direct the third round:
“It’s because I love it. I haven’t really had a better answer. I have been very lucky to participate in many different stories, and while working with and with the last movie, inspiring me in his own way, how another filmmaker interpreted the middle figure of the story. I was really moved from experience.”
“Dominion” was a great financial success, but he met the worst reviews of any “Jurassic World” movie. The series continues, although without Trevorro, From this summer’s “Jurassic World Rebirth” which focuses on new characters in a new environment.
