He has the impression that IA companies want us to all often speak to their products. Meta,, Google,, OPENAI And AnthropicTo name only a few, added features to allow users to speak with their robots as naturally as they would do with another person, taking advantage of the progress of speech technology in text.
A startup called Wispr Flow believes that it can surpass Bigwigs, with its dictation technology that supports more than 100 languages. The company has increased its existing Windows and Mac applications today with a new iOS application that serves as a keyboard, allowing you to use your voice to type in any application.
Now you may think that it is only another company speech company, but this journalist has become particularly impressed by the flow of Wispr. As an indian, I have never found an application of speech to text which can fully understand what I say. I also had a hard time obtaining AI assistants like Alexa and Siri to execute requests.
However, Wispr Flow presented a much better experience compared to any dictation technology that I used in Big Tech. At first, I had to change my sentences through the Wispr Flow office and mobile applications, but after using it several times, the dictation experience has improved considerably. I ended up using the application to write long emails and messages, and I even wrote a large part of this story using just my voice.
The application also has a digital keyboard and symbol if you need to type special characters, and it automatically learns the personalized names and terms, or you can add them via its dictionary section. It also allows you to whisper in your microphone if you want to use it in environments where you cannot speak out loud. The company claims that the iOS application can also operate in environments with poor network coverage.
The co -founder of the startup, Tanay Kothari, told Techcrunch that he had decided to build a portable device that would allow users to type simply by reducing words silently. The operational layer of this laptop was the flow, and last July, the company pivoted to focus on the software and published its Mac application a few months later.
On the desktop application, users can start dictating in any application by pressing a headrest, which is easier to access. For the iOS application, the challenge will be to persuade users to go to the Wispr keyboard each time they want to use the application.
Wispr Flow is free to use until you reach a limit of 2,000 words per week. There is an unlimited plan for $ 12 per month (or $ 144 per year) which also gives you early access to new features.
The company has raised $ 26 million to date of investors, including Nea, Palo Alto Networks and 8VC. Kothari said that his subscription activity noted a conversion rate of 19% and that startup’s revenues increased by 60% in annual shift.
The startup is working on the publication of an Android application this year. It also builds shared context features for teams so that the application can understand common terminology in business contexts.
Wispr has many competitors, including Aqua supported by YC,, Talktastic,, Stunning And Improvement. While Kothari expects more competition in this space with the progress of AI and vocal technology, he thinks that the Wispr engineering team and long -term investment in technology will distinguish it.
