After Aston Villa 3-1 win against Nottingham Forest from the kick-off, two other matches were proposed in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Staying in the Midlands, Western Ham traveled to Wolves for a huge shock to the bottom of the table.
Both teams sit in the relegation zone, but with Forest losing, the Hammers had the chance to close the gap to just one point from safety.
On the other side, Wolves needed a win if they were to give themselves any chance or fight their way out of last place.
In the other match, Brighton hosted Burnley on the south coast. The Seagulls sit pretty in the top half of the table and were looking to continue their good form at the Amex.
Burnley, however, remain desperate to win under Scott Parker. Read on to see how both matches played out in the top flight.
Wolves 3-0 West Ham
Wolves secured a long-awaited Premier League victory with a commanding 3-0 win over West Ham at Molineux, ending their winless run in emphatic fashion.
The damage was done during an impressive first-half display from the hosts. Jhon Arias opened the scoring inside four minutes, heading home from close range after a well-worked move involving Mateus Mane and Hee-Chan Hwang.
Wolves doubled their advantage midway through the half when Hwang calmly converted from the penalty spot following a foul on Mane.
The third came before the break as Mané, 18, scored his first senior goal for the club, ending a dominant spell.
West Ham struggled to react and created very little over the 90 minutes, managing only sporadic efforts despite several half-time changes.
Brighton 2-0 Burnley
Brighton claimed a comfortable 2-0 home victory over Burnley to end a six-game winless run in the Premier League and move into the top eight.
The hosts controlled possession from the start and took the lead just before the half-hour mark. After a period of sustained pressure, Georginio Rutter reacted quickest to a deflected effort and finished from a tight angle to give Brighton a deserved advantage.
Burnley offered little in response, although they forced Bart Verbruggen into a save late in the first half to keep the score at 1-0.
Any hope of a comeback effectively ended moments after the restart. Yasin Ayari doubled Brighton’s lead with a precise right-footed strike into the bottom corner, capitalizing on Burnley’s slow start to the second half.
