‘The Witcher 3’ could have one more adventure

CD Projekt Red is currently working on The Witcher 4, but the Polish studio may also have something planned for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Recent rumors are circulating online regarding a new paid expansion for the action role-playing game, which celebrated its tenth anniversary in May 2025. These claims first came from a Polish leaker. Borys Nieśpielakwho claimed a few months ago that the add-on was made by Fool’s Gold, the studio responsible for remaking the original. Witcher Thu. Nieśpielak initially said he expected an announcement at last December’s Game Awards, which didn’t come to fruition. But he recently said Eurogamer from a comment made by Piotr Nielubowicz, CFO of CD Projekt, which could support his original report.

“There is a chance that new content discussed in recent calls and reports will be released in the coming year,” Nielubowicz said in Call for CDP results starting in November 2025. Although vague, it said the content would impact the company’s financial results and “increase the likelihood of achieving the profit condition for the first stage of the incentive program.”

The Polish securities analyst added fuel to the fire in mid-December after the Game Awards. Mateusz Chrzanowski predicted that CDPR would release the expansion in May 2026, which will then “kick off the real marketing campaign for The Witcher 4.”

Before moving on to Cyberpunk 2077, CDPR supported The Witcher 3 with two large extensions, Hearts of Stone And Blood and wine. If CDPR returns to it, it makes sense: the game has been a consistent source of revenue over the years (especially when the studio was rehabilitating Cyberpunk), and a current-gen version released in 2022. Nor would it be the first game to benefit from an expansion laying the foundations for the sequel; Before Borders 3 was released in 2019, Gearbox turned out to have an additional expansion for Borderlands 2 in his round which bridged these two matches.

We’ll know in a few months how true these rumors are, but whether they are or not, it will probably get people playing. The Witcher 3 again before the Ciri-led sequel finally rears its head.
