Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu became a father for the third time as he and his wife Chennupalli Vidya welcomed a baby boy. The forty-year-old announced the news by posting a selfie with his other half and their newborn baby released from the hospital.
The couple became parents for the first time with the birth of their daughter in July 2020. They were blessed with their second daughter in May 2023.
Announcing the birth of her baby boy, Rayudu wrote on Instagram:
“Happy to have had the chance to have a little boy…”
Ambati Rayudu and Chennupalli Vidya first met during their college days in Hyderabad. Their friendship turned into love and they got married on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2009.
Ambati Rayudu captained India U19 in the 2004 U19 World Cup. The Men in Blue team included players like Shikhar DhawanDinesh Karthik, RP Singh, Suresh Raina and Robin Uthappa.
India suffered a five-wicket defeat against eventual champions Pakistan in the semi-final. Rayudu has accumulated 149 runs in six outings at an average of 24.83 during the campaign
He had to wait almost nine years after the U19 World Cup to make his international debut. The talented batter made his first ODI appearance in July 2013, scoring 63* off 84 balls against Zimbabwe in Harare.
Rayudu made his T20I debut in September 2020. Batting at No. 7, he remained unbeaten on three runs from five balls against England in Birmingham. In total, he featured in 55 ODIs and six T20Is, finishing with 1,736 runs in international cricket.
The right-handed batter had a memorable career in the Indian Premier League (IPL) that spanned 14 seasons. His career began in 2010 with the Mumbai Indians (MI), and he spent eight years with the franchise.
Rayudu joined Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2018 IPL and remained an integral part of the team until his retirement after the 2023 edition. He scored 4,348 runs in 187 innings in the IPL at an average of 28.23 and a strike rate of 127.54.
It is worth mentioning that Rayudu owns six IPL trophies as a player, the most common alongside Rohit Sharma.
