Just when you thought you had left Hawkins for goodNetflix is here to bring you back. One last adventure: the making of Stranger Things 5 arrives on the streamer on January 12. The documentary will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the blockbuster last season.
A trailer arrived today, which gives a glimpse of what to expect: hugs, tears, interviews with the Duffer brothers, a look at how certain stunts and sets came together, a brief mention of “Eleven’s fate” and how it was decided, and… yes, a moving cover of the end credits song, “Heroes.”
“I am infinitely grateful to the Duffer Brothers for trusting me with a front-row seat for this incredible journey,” said One last adventureDirector Martina Radwan, in a press release from Netflix. “Spending a full year on set with them was a true privilege and an absolute pleasure. Being able to get up close and watch them bring this beloved series to life in real time was pure joy.”
Radwan also praised the free access she received Stranger Things» Cast and other teams: “From the actors to their longtime collaborators, everyone welcomed me with remarkable generosity, openly sharing their personal and collective experiences over a decade of creative filmmaking, always pushing the boundaries. »
The Duffers added: “Growing up in Durham, North Carolina, we dreamed of becoming filmmakers, but Hollywood felt incredibly far away. Everything changed when we watched the behind-the-scenes documentaries of ” Lord of the Rings– on-the-job films that showed the true details of making a massive production happen. We saw how stressed Peter Jackson was and we thought, yes, this is the dream. With the decline of physical media, this type of behind-the-scenes storytelling has largely disappeared. We wanted to bring it back. One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things Season 5– beautifully captured and directed by Martina Radwan – is exactly our attempt to do that. If you like Stranger Thingsor if you’re just curious about how a major Hollywood production comes to life, this one is for you.
If the footage of the final table playback doesn’t make you feel any emotion, the Duffers calling “cut” on the very last shot might just do it. One last adventure: the making of Stranger Things 5 will be released on Netflix on Monday, January 12 at midnight PT.
