Man found dead in Disney Springs parking lot amid Orange County investigation

Authorities said a man was found dead at Disney World Friday evening, the latest tragedy in a string of deaths reported in recent months.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) told FOX Business on Monday that the death is being investigated as a possible suicide.

The incident occurred at the Orange Garage at Disney Springs, a shopping and entertainment complex located in the sprawling town of Disney Springs. Florida Theme Park.

“On January 2, 2026, at approximately 9 p.m., officers responded to the Orange Garage at Disney Springs on East Buena Vista Drive and discovered a deceased male,” OCSO said. “This incident is under investigation as it is believed to be a possible suicide.”

Friday’s incident follows multiple deaths at Disney resorts in recent months, bringing the total number of deaths reported at Disney World since its opening in 1971 to approximately 70.

On November 8, a body was found at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa in Lake Buena Vista, according to the New York Post.

Nearly a week earlier, a woman in her 40s died after being kidnapped from the Disney park. Pop Century Resort at a nearby hospital, OCSO told Fox News Digital.

Reports also show that three guests died over a two-week period in October.

In late October, the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office told FOX Business that a man in his 60s was found dead following an apparent suicide at the Contemporary Resort, a luxury hotel near Magic Kingdom.

The Post added that another man in his 60s suffered a medical emergency two days earlier at Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Prior to this, a 31-year-old woman identified as Super Disney fan Summer Equitz was reportedly found dead following an apparent suicide at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
